Have you tried doing surveys?

Has anyone tried doing surveys to earn extra money while staying at home? I have seen some websites that are "free" but can you actually make anything? If you have any advice, I'd be glad to hear from you. I would like to help with our family finances, but want to continue to be home for my kids. It doesn't have to be much, just a little to help pay the bills would be nice.

Thanks for any advice you might have.

Lisa, I have tried the free survey sites and have not received any money. They just every once in awhile send me a questionaire through my email and if you do the questionaire you are entered into a drawing. Plus now I am receiving lots of junk mail here at home. I do not recommend it cause so far it has been a waste of time for me.

I tried one free site (most of them want an up-front fee) and they sent me 1 survey in a month. It was only worth 75 points, and you needed something like 1,000 points to get any $$$! So I figured it wasn't worth my time, because I'd need to do 13 surveys just to get $50!

ITA! i signed up for these too and ended up not doing the ones that all you got were points, i didn't like that. i only do surveys for one co. now and get a $5.00 check for each survey, which is probably once a month or so. also, every now and then they send me something to test out and survey on so i have gotten a few cool free things like laundry detergent, cat food, lotions etc. but otherwise, i can't see making good $$ out of it. i see it as a free cup of joe when i get that check lol.
