Hi all it is another nice day here, no washer yet, so using the old one which runs spin cycle only on some programs, anyway. I am not a clean freak like my mother was. NOt much planned here today, just tidiyng up, cause may have guests this weekend, it is also a national holliday on sunday here so everything is closed on saturday, cause sunday things are closed anyway, gota love this country. My hubby is switching our health insurance today, so it is another story, cause here the state has health insurance so my husband pays two state insurances, but, legaly you are alowed one to use. Anyway, this country is a lesson in complexity, without reason, and bueracracy to kill an elephant, and corruption like a latin american country at the turn of 1960. Somedays, even the blue of the sky and the deep blue of the aegean, and the cragginess of the mountains just doesn't sooth my tired brain, from the insanity of the runnings of this country. Yikes and to think we are in the european union, it could be worse! So, don't ever under estimate the relative functional ease of the good ole U.S, just try to move somewhere else and see how annoying it can be.
Anyway, sorry i am venting about things i think should be running more efficiently. I won't get into the school system, (joke), or the health care system! Yes, this is one of those days where a trip to T.J. Maxx, and then to a nice autumn colored park with a hot cocoa, could definetely cure. It is still prety much summer here, we don't have a distinction of seasons, i am in shorts. If i didn't have my period i might even have gone to the beach today, my daughter loves the beach.
anyway, have a good one guys do some nice T.J Maxx shopping for me, cause here we over pay for stuff that is cheap quality like it were top quality, i never shop here it brings me down.

I always find it so fascinating to read about yours and Debra's life... and you bring up some interesting points. Too often we tend to forget how easy we have it.
I hope you enjoyed your day despite circumstances :o)
BTW... you would thrill me to no end if you were to post some pictures for us to see one day... I've never been out of the country! (HUGE hint LOL)
Yeah, i do perceive alot of things more clear because i am at a distance from them. I will tell you what fascinated my hubby about the states this summer. He loved that you swipe your own credit card, so no one touches it, in most places. He loved the idea of mail-ordering, planters nuts(he loved the packaging and freshness), all the variety of soda pops, He finally understood that with americans you have to keep a distance in public spaces, where as greeks may even touch you on the street and it is not strange, or they always touch your child in the supermarket, which would never happen in the us. He did not like the slum areas, like he couldn't figure out why they just don't clean them up in the inner cities, and he thought that the transportation public was overall not efficient. It is pretty good in athens, although crowded. In the states you need a car. He also, i think loved the way people hold the door for you, he said it forces you to be polite, which is true. I think he was put off with the rampant ownership of guns, and i guess it is a bit disturbing, that over a traffic dispute someone could shoot you, here they may like try to beat you up, but, their is gun control, i mean the bad guys have guns though, just nowhere like the crime rate in the states.
I think he also, was impressed with the fact that you could turn on red on right hand turns in my state. He liked the fact that libraries, were everywhere, and that people could go back to school fairly easily and he loved the educational system, yes you heard it, right. He went to school with my brother one night who is going to night school for hvac, carreer change. My hubby loves technical stuff, so he bought alot of technical books and code books while we were there, he loved the information available. I think he liked americans too, American's don't have a good reputation world wide, because of the predominant media coverage is ant-the bush administration in this country and in most of the world i think, so average people assume since he is president that all american's are like the way the media covers them here which is negativelly, as war mongers, as incensitive and stupid to world issues, and as basically cold. I think dh, was very pleasantly surprised by the generosity, and friendliness of all of our neighbors in the states, he had more attention there than he does here from our neighbors. anyway before this turns into a novel, good morning, and you are my first post this morning that is why it is so long, have a good one
