Help!

Hi all. I have a 4-1/2 months old, Ryan. When he was born they told me he was lactose intolerant. He's on Enfamil Laco-free but this does not seem to agree with him. We tried him on the regular stuff a few month ago but that also did not agree with him.

He has always spit-up a little - but here lately it's getting worse. It's not just the 'spit-up' anymore, it's down right vomiting. What should I do, if anything? My mom and hubby seems to think he's just teething...do ya think?

Thanks.

I would check with the doctor to see if it is possible he has acid reflux. I know that they have some medication for babies that can help reduce the vomiting. That's the only thing that comes to mind. Good luck!

I agree with the pp about checking with the ped about acid reflux. I had the same problem with my 2 year old when she was an infant. She was also on the Enfamil Lacto-Free formula but still continued to vomit. When I took her to the ped they but her on a dissolvable form of Zantac and on Reglan which are both for acid reflux and this helped tremendously. You can also try thickening the bottle with a small amount of rice cereal and see if that helps. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and I will help in any way I can.

Thank you for the info. I took him to the doc this morning and he thinks the same thing. Acid Reflux - but did not give me anything to give him.? Suggested the rice cereal in the formula but that's it... let me ask you a couple of questions:

1. Did your child get fussy allot or just late in the day?

2. Did he/she want to eat ALL the time?

3. When they spit up was it formula and water or just formula?

Ryan throws up most of what he eats and I feel like all I do is feed him, especially late in the afternoon - evening. When he spits up, the first time its formula, then the next two times it looks like water.

YIKES!!! I'm looking into getting a new doctor as this one has no patience and would not let me explain ANYTHING... UUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Thank you for all the help and advice. It's greatly appreciated.

DD spit up alot. It was never called acid reflux with her but more of a sensitive stomach. A couple of formulas I would suggest while you are looking for your new ped it Enfamil AR which has rice added so you don't have to add the cereal. DD never used this, but I know others who did. What DD did use was Alimentum. It's pretty expensive, but the protiens are partially broken down so it's easier to digest. I hope you find a new ped soon. I wouldn't be able to tolerate the unwillingness to listen either.
