Help My Family Schedule
| Thu, 03-24-2005 - 8:47am |
This is a request for help with my family schedule. I have no idea how to come up with one. Everytime I try I get off of it before it starts. Also when and how much should my children sleep and eat? Anyone here on a strict schedule? How does it work for you? Anyone winging it like me? I feel like I am living in chaos.

Hi! I didn't get a chance to welcome you before!
You seem like you are stressing yourself out waaaayyyy too much hon!
Take a step back and relax... you're not supermom, and you have to realize that you can't "do it all". We all are moms here, so we understand you want to do the best job possible taking care of your family. It will be ok... I promise :o)
On the eating thing... kids will eat when they get hungry... I've noticed that mine eat more when they are growing, and significantly less when they are teething. Just offer them healthy foods and as long as they are growing and gaining weight, don't worry about it.
The only real "schedule" that I have them on is bedtime. I start getting them ready for bed at 8pm, and they are in bed by 9pm.
Traci (cl-mommybeetx) swears by flylady for household routines. I love it too, but with this pregnancy it's been hard for me to do anything lately. Check out her website at www.flylady.com. Also, if you want some charts to help you through your day, you can check out www.printablechecklists.com
Desiree gave you some good info already..just a slight correction :) it is http://www.flylady.net
I do stick to a schedule, but my children do not know it :) I think that would put to much pressure on them if I said we had to do this at so and so time and that at this time.
I am sure any schedule I had would be far different than your own would be. If a schedule stresses you out though I would forget it. If it is not working just don't do it.
I get up early to give myself "me" time in the morning to pray and read. I exercise then shower. Then I check on the computer and see what Flylady has me doing for the day and I check my calendar and my household notebook. Then I play around on the computer for a while then start my flylady cleaning...usually I just end up cleaning the house for a total of 35 minutes a day. Then the kids are up and I start their breakfast.
We are homeschoolers and I have a seven and three year old and also keep my 22 month old nephew from 9:00 to 3:00 so I don't think my schedule would fit your own.
Good luck and I hope you can find something that works for your family!

Well, we follow a very relaxed schedule, lol. My son has a pretty good routine all day, he takes his naps at the same time, and we always have lunch at the same time. In the evenings is where it gets a little out of hand, lol. My husband sometimes works late, so I dont care if my son wants to stay up with him, so he really doesn't have a bedtime. If I wanted him to go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00, he would, but hes usually up until about 10, or 10:30. I think everyone just needs to fins a schedule that they're comfortable with, its tooo hard to stick to a strict schedule, well, for me anyway, lol!
