HELP! SAHM burnout
| Thu, 06-30-2005 - 11:57am |
Anyone have any ideas to combat SAHM burnout???? I knew I was in trouble when my mom said the other nite on the phone "but aren't having little kids fun?" (she was serious, not being sarcastic). I couldn't honestly tell her that it was fun, or even enjoyable. I have a 19 mos old DS and a 4 yr old DD, and they're driving me nuts. I've been a SAHM since my DD was born, btw. They fight, they whine, my DS won't go to bed before 9:30-10:00 at nite unless he doesn't take a nap at all during the day. My DD argues with everything I say, and both of them scream and throw fits when they don't get their way. I know, nothing new, but for the past 2 wks, I'm grouchy, have no patience, and am really hating being at home with them. HELP!!! Do we need time apart? I don't have a reliable sitter or family in town.

I know for me I love being at home with my children. I think it does help that I have a teacher's heart and almost look at my whole day as a classroom. lol
My children are homeschooled so it does keep me mentally stimulated. What is it you love to do? Maybe a modified version of this can help you to be mentally stimulated.
Also possibly looking at what is happening in your household as a challenge to conquer could help. Looking up sleep issues and studying early childhood behavior.
I am not a big fan of mass daycare but maybe a mothers day out program could help you and the kids.
I hope it gets better for you! Good luck!
It does seem like each day is the same and that can be frustrating at times.
Be happy that you are home with your children and try and find different things to do each day.
((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))
Elise and Olivia will both be big sisters!!!
