Just wondering if any of you do in home childcare and how you advertised yourself, how you got started up, etc...

Right now I am only keeping my baby nephew because this is the first year we are homeschooling full time, but this summer I plan on opening my home again.

I usually advertise in the paper or by putting up flyers at libraries, grocery stores...ect.

I am a former pre-k teacher and when my first son was born started teaching preschool classes out of my home. I got started by getting licensed to have a childcare facility in my home. You do not have to get licensed but you need to check your state laws on how many children you can have if you are not.

At most teacher supply stores they have some great things for daycare and homecare. I bought a great binder that helped me keep track of business forms and such. I know that it makes parents much more comfortable to see a fire-extinguisher and a play area and appropriate toys and games for the age of children you are watching.

Let me know if you have anymore questions...I listed some great preschool sites, before I saw your question...lol

Hope that can help some!

You might want to check with your state. Some states have laws you must follow to have children in your home.
