I had/have endometriosis and I was wondering if it will get any better now that I have had a baby? I still haven't had AF yet and hope she never returns :) but I know that eventually she will. I want to know what to expect I have been told that it will be a little better. So any of you ladies that have endometriosis: did it get any better after you had your baby? Also before I got PG I was taking Vioxx and that really helped but if I am still BFing when I start can I still take that same meds? I hope this makes some sense, I have so many thoughts running through my head and can't type fast enough.

TIA,

Shelby

Everybody's body is different, but from what I learned from my nursing books and my friends that have had endrometriosis it gets worse after a baby. This is due to the hormone fluctuation, especially estrogen.

I'm not sure if you can take vioxx while bf or not. I would ask your doctor about it. Now, there is a bc pill that you can take while bf. I think it might help. Or depo provera. You'll have to talk to your doctor. Mine doesn't like depo. I didn't ask her why. I think the side effects.

Birth control, especially progesterone based ones are supposed to prevent it from coming back as fast. Your OB can help you.

Hello! I understand your frustration regarding endometriosis. I have an eight and half month old son who I am breastfeeding. I was pain free until Janurary when menstration returned. Then I didn't have one again until March. The pain is not near what it was before pregnancy. Beforehand I was on the pill and took Motrin the day before menstration which let me get out of bed and function. Now I don't want to take any med's with breastfeeding if at all possible. The pain is gradually getting worse but for now I still can function without any medication for pain. Hope you feel better!

If you want to talk more feel free to email me mlrenner@columbus.rr.com

Good Luck,
