How do you keep a 3 year old quiet during a Catholic wedding. My BIL's brother is getting married on Sat. They want me to bring the kids, but how am I gonna keep Alex quiet when we have no idea how long the ceremony is gonna last, and then there is a 3 1/2 space between the ceremony and cocktails. Any ideas on what I can do.

Well I think the number one thing to remember is that THEY invited them...lol!

If it were me I would have a mock wedding practice with him. Explain to him that this is a very important and quiet occasion. Have him practice sitting with you and pretend there is a bride coming down the isle. You might explain that it is not appropriate to call out or talk to anyone he sees in the wedding party or guests.

I would sit as close to the isle as possible just in case you have to make a hasty exit. I don't think I would bring along toys or such because that would invite conversation ...mommy the game stoppped, or my color broke..lol.

You might want to tell him that he has a very important job to do during the wedding. His job is to sit quietly and remember everything that happens

Hi! I was married 1 1/2 years ago and my little brothers were there. Sam was 3 and Kevin was 1. It wasn't a terribly long ceremony, but they both were restless. Kevin started crying and Sam was talking and it was adorable. I remember that it happened, but it didn't bother me one bit because I was too caught up in getting married. So, I guess I am trying to say that even if he is really quiet I don't think they will even notice in the end.

Good luck,

Hi Amy,

My 3 year old son has always had a hard time sitting still and keeping quiet in church. I always bring him a few quiet toys to play with. You could also use an incentive (aka bribe : ) like "if you're good at the wedding we'll stop for ice cream or go to a park after the wedding". Since you've got time to kill between this might be a good time to find something fun for him to do.

Good luck!

I would say to bring some fav toys or snack. Maybe a gane he can play by himself that is quiet.
Good luck.
