I hope I am able to stay home as long as I can. We are planning on homeschooling my daughter who is 2 1/2 years old. I was a teacher then a stay at home wife for 6 years before my daughter came and I loved it. I don't want to go back to work if at all possible and my husband loves for me to be home too.
I'm planning on staying home for another year at least and then hoping to work part-time or find a flexible job. My kids can go to preschool next year. I want to be home with my kids when they are home and be able to volunteer in the classroom etc. I've taught in an elementary for years and found I was always doing that and not hanging out with my family enough. To be an effective teacher I would sometimes put in a 60 hour week. I do want some extra income too. I will finish my masters after this year and need to pay back some loans and keep myself in the loop for when I want to get back to work.
Definitely awhile. Probably full-time until they're in junior high & then part-time until they're going to college- maybe?
I think it's a full-time job to raise children- factor in taking time for your workouts, managing home... don't see room for a job at all!! Most of my friends are in agreement. We want to be actively involved in their schools, & activities after-school.
