How much should we pay?

Hi all,

Yes, it's me again with more questions! lol

We are having a babysitter for the first time come tom. and hang while we paint and clean all the things we can't get done with Danny around.

If all works out we hope to have her come on a reg. basis.

I asked her how much she charges and she said "oh, whatever". ;) Really? Your free?! Coool.

How much does everyone pay? We were thinking $4-5 an hour. Tomorrow we'll be here but later it would be nights and she wouldn't really have to do much.

Any ideas?

I can't believe I am even asking this question! Wasn't it just yesterday I was babysitting for $3 an hour! wow....i am guess I am getting old.

;(

Oh I know what you're thinking. Only once did my sitter have a price and it sure made things easier! What I pay depends on when and for how long and what all they have to do.

Usually it ranges about $30 for dinner and a movie on a Friday or Saturday night for both kids and it's from 5-6 until 9-ish. I pay well because I call at a moments notice sometimes and they're more likely to drop their plans knowing they'll be compensated. I pay more for weekends than I do weeknights because I know she's giving up her own night to have fun with her friends. I pay more when feeding and awake time is what she's doing than I do when she comes over, the kids go to bed with in the half hour, and she spends the rest of the night on the computer IMing or watching dvd's.

Funny!

I have rec. all different prices! lol

I'll ask her what she was paid before, maybe that will help.

If she was sitting right now it would be alot! Danny is throwing a mother of a tantrum to go to bed tonight. He doesn't usually do this but he's all over the map these days. I just gave him some tylenol and ambesol...maybe that will help whatever it is.

It doesn't help he climbs his crib rail and gets stuck so we keep having to go and save him. ;0

thanks for all the suggestions!

I think the prices are kind of regional.

hi,

Yeah, I will have to ask her or her mom. As for asking around, there aren't many teens here. I saw a few months ago a thing on the today show about daycare costs around the country....some were way expensive while others were more reasonable. Unfortunetly for me the daycare is based on an income level and we are the highest level.

I saw on your signs on the bottom "metformin" women. I was on met for 9 months, I won't take it again. It works for you? I couldn't get passed the side effects...

HI,

Sorry it takes me a bit to respond. The time zone thing and the fact we had the babysitter here yesterday meant we were busy busy.

First, can i just say having the sitter was like a new lease on life! Danny did okay...after a couple of hours he needed the reassurence we were hear and then didnt' really let go. It was good though, that was his first time and he never leaves me or daddy. We will def. do it again! I loved it so much I paid her $20 for 3 hours! lol

We got half the room painted but we need more paint....but of course they are closed. Get this ( this is living in Italy), they are open on Sat. for 3 hours in the morning, closed on Sundays (everything is) and then open for 3 hours on Monday evening. This is a paint store too not some mom and pop little store. Italy is great but you seriously move back in time here.

As for the metformin...I was on that for 4 months and rarely left the house. I couldn't leave a toilet for more then a little bit. I then started the RX version and that was better but for the whole 9 months I was on it I was on the toilet more then off. I got pregnant and stopped at 12 weeks gest., I was put on it for high insulin. They found that during fertility testing. But since they wouldn't test me again to see if it was working and it made me sick for so long then I won't take it again.

I am glad it works for you...I know it can for some but just not me.

have a good weekend.
