Since I am new to the board, I just wanted to get to know everyone...

How old are your kids?

How long have you stayed at home?

Do you also work outside/inside the home P/T?

If not, do you plan to return to work when your kids are a certain age?

How old are your kids? My kids are 8,7,5, and 4

How long have you stayed at home? I have stayed home since Dh and I reconnected in September 2000

Do you also work outside/inside the home P/T? I occasionally babysit and I do some volunteer work at the school my kids attend

If not, do you plan to return to work when your kids are a certain age? I have not really decided yet if I am going to go to work or live as a full time mom. I am debating taking online college classes when the kids start school again in August.

Ok, so I will finally answer my own questions :)

How old are your kids? I have 2 kids, Robert 10 and Sarah 5

How long have you stayed at home?I have been at home this time for about a year now but previously SAH for varying amounts of time throughout their lives. For the most part, either DH or myself have been home with them.

Do you also work outside/inside the home P/T? Not currently but am checking some things out.

If not, do you plan to return to work when your kids are a certain age? I do plan to return to work eventually but only P/T.

Hi Terri!

Katie is 13 and Molly is 10

I do currently work p/t...2 1/2 hours per day. I am an assistant in an early childhood classroom. I'm in the same district as my girls, so I have all the same holidays and snow days as they do. I really like it!

I stayed home when Molly was about 8 mos. old until she was 4. Then I picked up a very part time gig running the playground from 12:15 to 1:15 every day (yes, I got paid) at the school Katie was in for elementary. I did that until just this year. When Molly started Kindy, I started subbing in Kindy classrooms and Early Childhood classrooms. Eventually I landed the job I have now, as I had subbed in this room. Anyway.....I gradually eased back into working and I like what I do. The p/t thing is working out great for me and my family. DH and I haven't discussed what I'll do down the road, but for now, it allows me flexibility in helping out in the girls schools and running them all over creation when necessary (I only work 8:30 to 11 a.m. every morning).

How old are your kids?
I have 2 boys, ages 10 and almost 5.

How long have you stayed at home?
I have stayed at home since 2001, but I did do Medical Transcription from home from 2001 - 2004 when I got pregnant with Andrew.

Do you also work outside/inside the home P/T?
No, but I sure do volunteer all the time. I am at Austin's school (which is closing at the end of this school year) 2 - 4 days every week. I have been working with 2 other gals doing their yearbook and helping out with Art class.

If not, do you plan to return to work when your kids are a certain age?
I had considered part time, but am slowly thinking of staying home full time. At least until Andrew gets settled into Kindy this fall and for a few years after that.

I know what you mean about the volunteering! I go to the school 2 days a week for about 2-2.5 hours each day and then also volunteer at our church one day a week for a few hours. I really enjoy it though and even if I got a P/T job would still want to try to keep up with most of it.

I would possibly like to sub in our school system as well but right now it seems they have a TON of subs and do not need anymore... I know that eventually the right thing will come along and I want to still be able to be here for the kids(their schedules are only going to get more hectic!) so it will have to be something that works around that.
