Well, we spent the weekend in our hometown since my mom's birthday was last week and my grandpa is fading quickly. He's almost 91 and the family just decided last week to put him in the nursing home. Mostly it was done to save my grandma from hurting herself as she was lifting him in and out of bed, showering him, getting him onto the toilet, etc. So we visit him every chance we get. We came home on Sunday and spent Monday at home, doing some projects around the house. LO went to bed at 6:00 and we weren't going to try to keep him up til 9 to see the city's fireworks display. Haha, we didn't see it either as we were in bed at 9:00! It was definately the most tame July 4th that we've spent together, but things are just different with a baby! And we're ok with that. :)

Ours was OK. Our neighborhood did the annual celebration on the 3rd this year. The fireworks were a bit crazy. We usually have a nice, small display, but this year I think they were setting them off a bit too close. There was a lot of debris raining down on us that definitely didn't happen last year. Plus, all the kids in the neighborhood kept creeping closer and closer to where they were being lit.

My 3YO enjoyed them, but there was a party behind us that had the LOUD stuff. The big booms were scaring her, so we had to cut the evening short and go inside. Once we got inside, I found our dog hiding in the closet. :(

We didn't do much of anything on the 4th. MIL was trying to get us to drive 3 hours north to spend the day with DH's aunts and uncle. The kids would have hated it, and DH and I would have been the youngest adults there. It would have been a bunch of 60-something, child-free adults plus us. And I knew if we would have gone, MIL would be pushing to make this an annual thing. Ew. Instead, we spent a relaxing day at home yesterday, and that was perfectly fine with us! The kids got to march in the town's parade, so that was something new for them!
