how we look as stay home mom

At first I wasn't aware this is an issue. being stay home mom for a year now,
I recently find this make me think: Because I stay home almost everyday with no guest,
So i wear my comfort clothes, no make up, hair tide up. Sometimes I feel I am not that
confident woman as I saw myself years ago. I am not a person that judge 100% on the look or materials for confident, but now slowly I found it somehow do effect me when I am like that everyday now. Slowly eating me up. When I go out, I am all neat; I feel good about myself.
But what's the point of dressing up when only me and my daughter at home? and with the housework, cleaning...
Do you aware of this?

I hope you feel better. You might also find a playgroup locally. It gives motivation to get out and dressed and be around other SAHM's. It is fun and you visit with some moms who feel the way you do.

I almost always get dressed in the morning, depending on what my chores are for the day. If it is a heavy house cleaning day I wear sweats, but I always have lipstick and eyeliner on. I find I feel better and am more likely to have a productive day. I look at it like being a SAHM is my job and I get ready for my job in the morning. Of course now that I have school age children and have to get out of the house in the morning, I get dressed along with the kids. It is a slippery slope into feeling like you don't have anything to get fixed up for. Do it for you, you are worth it.

I did it! Today I spend some little time putting make up and wear my outing clothes.
Yes, I felt more awake and much better. It's just hard to accept why I have lipstick on
my cup at home. But anyways, we end up out to the mall just because I really felt so alive.
Dh came home saw me and DD so happy, I guess because i am happy all day and also effect DD too. Dh suddenly looked at my hair for a while and took me it look good to have my hair that way and he told me I was pretty. I really think this help my confident too.
Later, I also put mask on and have a foot spa section, really enjoy myself. Felt so worth it. It just another day but how we spent make a great different.
Thanks for your advice. I can see I am making the transition.

I became aware of that about a year or so ago. So I stopped wearing sweats every day and I actually wear jeans and sweaters, shirts, etc. I pay attention to how I'm dressed. I wear makeup more often, but not always. So I know what you mean. I feel better about myself not wearing sweats all the time.....

Well i am different type of Mom, I like to wear jeans, i have tons of jeans, I do not sit around in sweatpants, I don't own a pair of sweatpants at all. I wear Victoria's Secret underwear, with G-strings, and boyshorts. i make sure I do my hair, i'm not really a make-up girl accept for now since I'm breaking out. I used to tie my hair up, but found a hairstyle for me. I do shower everyday, even if the kids are banging on the door. Just because you're a SAHM doesn't mean you can't look good. I really can't stand the SAHM's who let themselves go because they stay home. I have seen, no lie, women who stay home and are at a grocerystore in PJ's, come on. It makes us look bad when women do that. Or they go out in those jogging ants, or sweatpants, I can see if they just had a baby, and they can't fit into their nice jeans, then yes it may be acceptable, but everyday wear is not it. When I go out I have my nice coat my husband bought me, my coach purse, coach watch, nice shoes, my jeans, and a nice top. Most people think I am a working Mom, and they are shocked when i say , yeah I'm a stay at home mom, because I don't look like one at all. I never will. That's not me, and I won't look dumpy because I stay home. Don't take this the wrong way, this is how I am. I also won't join the PTA, but that's another discussion. LOL

i also want to clarify, because I do wear boyshorts and g-strings, i do have PJ bottoms from Victorias secret, they are not sweats just bottoms. My advice is get rid of the sweats, you should also chck out the work at home debate board, with SAHM moms they all think stay at home moms wear nothing but sweats. I was appalled at that comment since I'm the oddball. Oh well.
