I am in the GA area, close to FL. It has been said that the hurricne will hit my area on Saturday. They think it might hit right on us. UGH
I am so scared and worried. I am all alone and have no idea what to do. I wish Chris were here.
Please pray that this thing does not harm anyone. The last one was deadly and homes were distroyed!

Hi All!
I'm a newbie to the board and thought I would put my 2 cents in. I don't know what those of you who live in the south are going through (I live in IA) unless we have a storm that just happens to pack hurricane force winds (yes, you can have those without an actual tornado, lol)
I grew up for years absolutely terrified of storms but lately for some strange reason I've been doing a little bit better this year. So, here is my 2 cents.
Go back to the second post and check out the website that mommybeetx posted. It looks like it has some very good information. Also go to www.flylady.net. She has an 11 steps for emergency preparedness posted. Hopefully that will help you as well. Don't forget the most important website. www.weather.com. The Weather Channel website. Don't wait until the last minute to go out and get things. if you can afford it get some bottled water, extra diapers (see the flylady list) and especially EXTRA BATTERIES. If you can also get a weather radio those are very nice to have (our county gave them out about 2 years ago and I like mine, it has battery backup.) Also don't forget to change the batteries in your alarm clocks incase they have that option so if the power goes out hopefully you won't have to reset all of the clocks! Also buy extra bulbs for your flashlights. I know that may sound silly but after going to the basement a year ago and realizing that we couldn't find half of our flashlights I bought more and also bought bulbs for the ones that weren't working even after we'd put new batteries in them. Last thursday we ended up back in the basement after my weather radio went off and said we were in the path. I went out to my trunk since that's where the new batteries were, put them in the flashlight and it didn't work. I went to the box with the extra batteries and pulled out the spare bulb and changed it. Voila! It worked!
One more thing that really helps to calm me (sorry if I offend anyone *cringing*) is reading Psalm 91. It basically talks about the man upstairs sheltering you from the dangers that lie ahead. I kind of believe it works a little when dh's fire pager says that there's a tornado 3/4 mile south headed for town and as I'm listening for the roar and my house to start breaking apart, a couple minutes later they said it passed over town. I don't know what to think sometimes.
You are all in my prayers and I will be watching the storm with you as well.
Lynda
