Husband Travels...Should Baby and I?

My husband is going to be gone for three weeks in a row. My five month old and I would be able to join him on one of the weeks, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand..I HATE being home alone, and Brooke misses her daddy so I'd love for us to tag along. On the other hand, it is 10 hours away and we would be driving, plus she's never been away from home for more than a few hours, plus I breastfeed. Will this be too much on her? I've heard babies are resilient and it will help her be flexible, but I still worry. What do you all think? Will it affect her negatively, or will it help to be around mommy and daddy both? Will it totally disrupt her schedule? Again, she is five months old and it is a ten hour car drive plus a week away. I really would love to go, but not at the expense of my babies comfort and happiness. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I say GO For It! Your baby will not be damaged - true, she may be a little disoriented, but the more you do stuff like that, the more she will learn to go with the flow and be flexible. And the fact that you breast feed should make it even easier - all that you will need to do when she is hungry is pull off the road and nurse her - much easier than bottles! We have traveled a lot with our children from the time that they were newborns, and now they are very easy-going kids and can pretty much sleep anywhere. Enjoy the vacation - good luck!

I agree with the above post. I breastfed both children as well, and new their schedule really well, we would always travel during the longer rest period and it usually worked. Good Luck! Have a great time!

My dd is almost 7 months old and we travel with her all the time. All of our family lives out of town, so we frequently visit them for the weekend (they are 8 hours away). I also have taken her with me for a week or so. The first day there and the first day back will probably be the most difficult, but they adjust so quickly. I am all for taking a baby everywhere - you don't want them to freak out the first time you absolutely have to go somewhere over night!

Good luck,

Cari

I think you should go by what you both can handle and what you think is best for you both.
I really dont have much more advice then that.
Good luck and stay safe if you decide to go.
