I can't sleep.......HELP!

I found another board about insomniacs, but their posts seemed to be a lot more serious than mine, and alot of it was due to health problems. My problem is this: Ever since my daughter was born, I have had trouble sleeping. Well, first of all, of course, I was up with her, etc. But now, even when she does sleep through the night (she is 9 months old, and so this does happen once in awhile), I get up many times. Most nights I just lay there, because I know that as soon as I begin to drift to sleep, that she will be up and needing something, and then sure enough (after I lay there for 2 hours and begin to drift off) she is crying.

I've tried not getting up with her everytime she cried, but then the other night I did that, and then in the morning I noticed she was laying in a big wet pee spot, and I felt sooooooooooooooo bad!! I don't know what to do. It seems as though it is one thing or another, and I always seem to have like 1000 things running through my mind!!

I miss sleeping!!! I was one of those people who used to sleep for fun, or because there was nothing to do, or just because the couch was empty and I was comfy on it!! I even have a hard time napping now!! It seems like I just lay there and never go to sleep. I will admit that I drink about 3 or 4 cups of coffee a day, but I used to do that all the time too, and still slept well. I would like any advise that anyone can offer!! I am desprit!!

It is very hard to be patient and caring to my daughter (who is teething) when all I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep for about 6 weeks, but know that I would probably just lay awake for 5 weeks, 6 days and 23 hours!! PLEASE HELP!! If I don't get some sleep, I am going to go nutts!!

I had the same problem barely a week ago! My DD is younger than yours and she pretty much sleeps thru the night so I really can't relate there. But when I couldn't sleep I found that(TMI ahead)getting ummm intimate so to speak with my DH was really helpful(sorry for that).

Sorry you can't sleep. I seem to go thru a fase every couple of months where I stay up till about 3:00am. I am a natural night person though and usualy only need 5 hours to wake refreshed. I agree with above post...may sound silly but going "bowling" lol with Dh can help!

ok so now I can't sleep! I forgot to mention that if it is "mommy brain" I'd recommend co-sleeping. You have the baby right there and you know she is safe and you'll hear her if she cries. I do it with my DD and it really seems to help us all sleep better.

Good Luck,

No way am I going back there. My daughter slept with us at first, and it took 6 months to get her out of my bed!! I slept even worse with her there because I was constantly worried about someone rolling over on her, and anyway, now if I do bring her to bed, she thinks it is play time and won't let either me or my boyfriend sleep. Sorry, but co-sleeping is out of the question.

On the other hand, trust me, my boyfriend and I do (how do I put this politely) try to exhaust each other before sleep, but it usually dosn't help. He sleeps like a baby, and I rest comfortably, but still lay awake until I hear my sweety crying!! I don't know, maybe I should just stay up late, late and not worry about it, but I feel like my mind is going to explode. Even when I do my jogging and exercise I can't seem to get a better sleep.

Thanks for your suggestions though!! They were nice. More would be appreciated!! But it doesn't matter too much, maybe I'll just go get some of those sleep eze pills!! I used to use them in high school when I had trouble sleeping (which wasn't very often) and they would help me sleep, but wouldn't totally knock me out!! I was just hoping to not take anything!! Oh well, I guess it is better than going crazy!!
