I found a ceremondy and reception site!

First I wanted everyone to know that we decided on a date. It will be this coming September 24th!!!! Yeah I know I better get my butt moving!

I am been gettting a little depressed because there are TONS of wedding sites around us but hey are sooooo expensive. With a baby on the way and two kids we just can't afford an expensive last minute wedding. I tried several different scenerios and just nothing sounded great to me. I wanted to be able at least to feed Robert's family who will be the ones that have to travel out of town. Just for a cake and punch reception the cost would have been 3,000. I would just feel horrible if I did not feed out of town guests.

Well suddenly I remembered seeing signs two weekends in a row for a nearby park. I called the parks and recreation dept and the only cost would be the pavillion rental!!! That is only a 100 dollars! This is a REALLY nice park that everytime we go it is empty no matter what time of day. It has a huge pavillion and a beutiful pond with a water fountain.

See the stone circle area? Well I thought that could be the ceremony site. Dh and I would face away from the fountain and I thought it would look nice to have white chairs in two rows in a circle. I thought it would look really nice to have some topiarys on the high points of the wall where Dh and I would stand. Just a hundred yards away it the pavvillion on the left.

Okay here is the crazy part! I think I am going to do the food myself. I even thought of renting a extra refrigerator from one of those rental places for the month of the wedding. So any menu ideas??? I am figuring on 40 to 50 people.

Do you think this is doable? Any ideas or opinions? Thanks!

Congratulations!!! That is going to be beautiful Traci!!! I love the pond and fountain.

Are you sure you're going to feel up to preparing the food? You could check with the deli at your grocery store and compare costs. If it's only going to be a little bit more it might be worth it.

Traci, I think that would be a beautiful place. Congratulations to you and DH! The only thing I can think of (cause everytime I make it DH says "this could be a wedding dish") is rosemary/garlic/balsamic vinegar chicken thighs. The thighs are very inexpensive and I just saw this recipe (minus the balsamic vinegar) on Good Deal with David Liberman the other day on food network. I was like "hey that is my recipe..lol". But he made his marinade with lemon zest. His show that day was feeding 4 under $25. Maybe you can check out the site. His side dishes looked very yummy too.

Traci, oh that will be beautiful! I had my wedding outdoors under a gazebo. I know you can pull off some amazing things, ie Matt's birthday party, but like Desiree said do you think you'll feel up to it? Maybe you could get some estimates from some places. Good luck!!! :)

Traci,
That is beautiful! :) If you can make the food on your own, I would do that. Getting a caterer is soo expensive and sometimes a waste, ya know? Just keep it simple :)
