You could tell her that not every single chicken or turkey is destined to be eaten. Let her know that SOME are for food and the others live on farms or are peoples pets. This might make her feel better knowing that not ALL are killed for food!
Awww, my heart is breaking hearing that story. Poor sweetie. I think you did the right thing by telling the truth. I'm raising my little girl who is 16 months to be a vegetarian and I must say they make really good, and darn near real next to the real thing, versions of chicken nuggets! That's always an option.

I dont have advise because with my dd, she will be our families farm, be looking at a chicken, and say "mommy, I want chicken, I hungry..." lol. I think you did the right thing by telling her. She'll figure it out once she has time to process it all.
