I just had a pg test say positive...

I am really confused. I know I posted on here before that I thought I could be pregnant but then a few days later I got my period, so I thought I was just really wrong.

For the past few days I have been feeling really lousy in the mornings and all the way up to about 6:00 in the evening. I haven't been able to eat anything and everything just sounds gross to me.

My period just stopped today and not to be gross but there were brownish blood clots this morning. But it was a regular period for me lasting 4 days.

Just to eliminate what could be wrong I told my dh to buy me a pg test, and I just took it. It said positive. Could I have had maybe a misscairage? The very first time dh and i got pg it ended in a misscairage at 3 months along.

Is it possible to have a full period during pregnancy and everything to be all right? If I did get pg it would have been on May the 2nd.

Should I even go to the doctor or should I wait 3 or so weeks to make sure I am still pg?

I'm really confused and starting to feel kind of weepy. If something happened now I wish I would not have taken that test.

Sorry just feeling a little sad.

My mom had her period for the first 3 months of her pg with me....I know it definetly happens....I am living proof. I would call the doc and make an appt. just to be sure. I will pray that everything is ok and you go on to have a healthy pg!!!

Good luck and keep us posted

That same exact thing happened to me. That is why I didn't actually find out I was pregnant until a couple of months later. I had a period that lasted 3.5 days with blood clotting. I wasn't sure if I had a miscarriage or it was my imagination. I just figured that the test was wrong. Later, they told me that, what I thought was my period, was called implantation bleeding. I hadn't know about it, because I didn't have it with my first son. Either way, your have got to see a doctor. If you had a miscarriage, you could develop an infection. If you are pregnant, you need prenatal care. Good Luck!

Thank you for the information. I called my dr office this morning and the nurse said that if I did have a miscarriage that having my period would have flushed everything anyway, I set an appointment for june, she said that is when I need to come in anyway...my dr is just coming back from maternity leave. Is that normal to just have to wait? I know I would have only been a couple of weeks pg, but It just seems so strange. I do trust my dr and her empoyees, they are really great and they got me through two pregnancies already.

I don't know I guees I am just feeling kind of in limbo...

Thanks

Traci

not to burst your bubble or depress you, but, my dr told me, that a woman in her life time does actualy h ave many , persay, miscarriages, and she doenst even know it.. many pregnancies happen that dont complete..and we just start our periods as normal. i had 2 misses and a still born before i had my last 2 babies. after he gave me stats on that, it did help me feel a bit better.. about the misses.. yes you could easily still be pg. wait about 2 weeks and then test again...see what it reads then, the hormone will be out of your body by then if in fact you did mis.and if not it will be even stronger in your system

You sound just like my case. Yes, I had almost, what I thought, was a full period. Like you I was just not quite myself, and I wasn't sure. So... I took the test and it was posative. Usually those tests are on the money. I would definitely call my OBGYN and schedule an appointment. The sooner you recieve care the better for you and the baby. Good Luck!!! :)

I think you should go to the dr if you think something might be wrong or that you might be pregnant.
Better to be safe then sorry.
I hope either way, that you are okay with the results.
Sorry that I don't have much more advice then that.
Good luck.

It is normal, but rare to have a period while pregnant. I'm not sure on whether or not you may have had a miscarriage. It's possible. IMHO you should see your doctor right away to find out if you are pregnant or had a miscarriage. Blood clots are usually normal, I think they are actually caused by your uterine lining sloughing off during your period. Geez, now I sound gross. I hope this all works out okay. Come back and let me know.

Yes you could be pregnant! It is normal for women to get their periods for the first month of pregnancy. Some women even have their periods all through their pregnancy. I would go to the DR as soon as possible. Usually pregnancy tests that show up positive are NEVER wrong. Its very rare that they are. I would just go to the DR just to make sure.

Hi Traci,

When I was pregnan I found out really early due to nausea. I thought I had the flu, but when my chiropractor asked if I could be pregnant I took a test and he was right. When I called to make my appt. they made me wait till about the 10 week mark to come in. I thought this was odd also. I went to walmart and picked up some prenatal vitamins until I could get into my dr. I would recomend you do the same.

Did they tell you not to take Ibuprophen, or asprin? You can take Tylenol (not extra strength) and a decongestant if you get sick (but make sure it doesn't have any other medications beside the decongestant). Talk to your doctor before taking anything!
