I have awesome IL's - really I do. My MIL does have some flaws tho - the most annoying one being that she is OVERLY organized. Puts me to shame, and makes me feel so inadequate sometimes. So, my dad called me in early August, saying they sold their house, and bought a condo, they will be moving the weekend of Oct. 21/22, so don't plan anything but to help them move. No problem dad....HA, I was in the middle of making dinner, and didn't mark it on my calendar. SO, I totally screwed up. My MIL was looking for some dates for a gathering, as dh volunteered to have it at our house (not a problem, I enjoy this - we built this house for entertaining, so lets use it!) It was to be in October, and due to older dd's bday, I of course, picked the Oct. 21/22 weekend. OOOOPS! Well, the IL's have been out of town the past 3 days, so I called my BIL and picked a new date - he told me to send an email, and he would forward it on, etc. Well, MIL came home late last night, so I'm waiting to find out if she thinks its funny, or if she is really upset with me. So hard to predict with her. What can I say? I'm just a busy mommy, and I admit complete fault. BIL and dh were not phased by it, and said no big deal. I'll let ya know what happens....

Wendy - who really should update her calendar!

Wendy,

I have double-booked things before and I don't know why. I guess I just think I don't have a very busy life and wouldn't have anything going on. Hopefully it will all work out. I am sure it will. Good luck!

My dissorganization drives my ILs nuts too, I think. MIL is so neat and organized, I am NOT. She'll ask me a question about when or where something's gonna happen, and I just draw a blank, LOL. Up till now she's cut me some slack, having 3 kids so close together, but eventually she's going to expect me to pull it together. I hate to break it to her, but I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Something that does help me, though, is I have 2 giant boards hanging on the kitchen walls. Ones a white board that I draw a callender on and the other is a cork board. The callender only goes out about 5 weeks, and I leave space on it to write on things that are farther out than that, or I tack a note about the far out things on the cork board. This helps immensely. Right now my calender's looking pretty full...

LOL, that is exactly why I have 80 calendars and a palm pilot, so I dont miss a thing planned.
I am sure you MIL will understand if she has had kids or a life

I could have a calender pinned to me and I would still forget. I would forget the calender is even there (haha). You are not alone and we only have one daughter and not busy lives. I blame it on age (ha). Trish :)
