I really hadn't planned on leaving the house today, but you know how that goes. Yesterday, the girls played outside before supper, and Molly came in and said her back was really itchy. So, I lifted her shirt and on the back of her shoulder, there were what looked like 5 or 6 bites of some sort - mosquito, spider, I don't know. So, because she reacts so badly to mosquito bites, I got Zyrtec into her right away. The rest of the night was fine. I checked her this a.m., and when I lifted her shirt, I freaked out! It was covered, literally, with these little bites(looked like mosquito bites) and they itched. So, I gave her more Zyrtec, and took a shower. By the time I was done, she was really upset and said it was really, really bad. So I looked and they were travelling - into her groin area, under her arms......so off we went. They think it is an allergic reaction, to SOMETHING, but we don't know what. So, they put her on Prednisone - which is just awful tasting - she gagged and almost threw up - that is really a nice thought, huh? So, if it doesn't get better by Monday, I have to take her back in. At least it isn't something contagious. However, I was warned that the Prednisone may keep her awake. Oh goody.
I'll keep you posted.
Wendy

praying for a speedy recovery!!!!
(((Wendy & Molly))) I'm so sorry!! The poor little thing! Sounds like hives--?? I am so shocked these doctors resort to steroids right away. That sounds so drastic. What happened to good old Benadryl? (Plus it puts them to sleep. . . Much better if you ask me!! LOL!). But then, what do I know? I'll have to consult my Better Half Medical Encyclopedia for the answers ;)
I'm saying a prayer she gets better fast! Hugs to you both!
Sofia
Thanks, Sofia! It looks like the Prednisone is working, tho. The hives are almost gone. I'm truly amazed. The Zyrtec I gave her didn't do much - do you (Michael) think the benadryl would have helped instead? I don't know anything about the drugs they have out there, so hopefully, Michael will be able to help out - I'm thinking he may have to start charging the board itself a flat fee on a yearly basis, so he can consult for us! LOL!
Thanks again Sofia - its just a nightmare getting it into her. She hates the aftertaste.
Hugs,
Wendy
Wendy, I will call him right now and ask him. He's in Canada :(
I'll let you know what he says, so check back. . .
LOL about the charging. We'd never do that. But maybe I need to start a section called ASK DR MICHAEL and he can just log on and respond directly and avoid the middleman (me) since I don't know anything anyway except what he's taught me. ROFLOL!!
Hugs to you--you're an awesome mom!!
