Natalie's birthday party is Saturday (I'm having it at the park), and we're doing a Disney Princess theme. She wants me to make her a cake shaped like a castle (using ice cream cones).
Anyway, I've only had 3 kids (out of almost 30 invitations) RSVP that they are definitely coming. I know from past experience that there will be people show up who never called, but I really don't know how many to plan for. I need to figure out (CHEAP) party favors that can be returned to the store if they aren't used... also how many should I get???
I thought about making rice krispy treats cut out in the shape of stars & decorated with M&M's, with a wooden dowel in them to look like the Fairy Godmother's magic wand, and giving that to the kids as they leave.
I also thought about letting the kids make "crowns" out of construction paper as they arrive instead of having party hats.
For games, I thought about having a sack race, but I'm drawing a blank for anything else...
help!!!!
TIA!!!

you have some great ideas!!! Now I want rice krispy treats lol.
Do you have a decent dollar store near you? They have some good (and cheap) party favor type things.
Sack races are good too. I guess you dont want them to get wet, I was thinking since its outside they could throw water balloons, but that might not be the best idea lol.
Let me ask my sil, shes done 3 Disney Princess parties now, and had games. I'll get back to you.
Molly had a Tinkerbell party over the summer. We decorated plastic cups with jewels, then served their beverage in it. I also went to a dollar store and bought wings with wands for Molly to give out when her guests arrived. The extras (since they were from the dollar store) I used in our dress up box and gave a couple to the neighbor. We also made "necklaces" from licorice strings, fruit loops, gummi lifesavers, etc. They LOVED this project. A good one to do at the end, before they go home (it certainly didn't take them long to make them - 10-15 mins.) then their parents can say whether or not they can eat them. LOL! For her cake, I made a star shaped cake, and covered an empty papertowel roll in foil. Then I added ribbon and stuck it in the bottom of the star, to look like a wand. Just an idea, that is less time consuming. She wanted pink frosting and purple sprinkles. Turned out cute!!
As for how many to plan for.....hmmm. I would say 10. Gosh, that is really a tough situation to be in. Not RSVP'ing for a party is really rude, IMHO. RSVP's are for a reason. However, you may still get a call here or there. Good luck Desiree. I'll be anxious to hear how it goes.....
