They are thinking the storm will hit Galveston so I will probably know more tomorrow if we have to leave or not. If this storm is a category 3 or higher we could have major damage. During Hurricane Alicia it was a category 3 and even though we are 88 miles from the coast we had up to 120+ mile per hour winds come through. Sometimes the straight line winds would get even higher! There was alot of damage here so there is no way we will stay.

We will leave Friday afternoon depending on what happens late tonight and tomorrow morning.

I have lots to do so I will post a few times if I can before I leave. Please pray that wherever it hits that the damage is not bad!

Good luck hon! Being in Corpus Christi we are sitting ducks if comes to us. For those of you wondering where I am - when you look at a map of the US and you look at TX - we are just a bit down from the exact center of the curve on the Gulf of Mexico.

DH is on the hurricane crew at the refinery so he HAS to stay if it comes our way and he's on lock down out there until they give their own all clear so that leaves the kids and I on our own. I've got MIL/FIL/SIL here, SIL's fiance is a meteorologist at the airport so he has to stay as well, but they get so stressed and make things harder than they should be. I'm ready to just hook up the pop-up and find a good campground to head to out in West TX. Laredo's hotels are all booked and I'm guessing the places around it are filling up to but I don't know if I'm leaving yet so I don't think I'll be really looking around until late tomorrow depending on what this storm does.

So, in my ramblings know that I'm thinking about you and hope that you stay safe.

Ya'll are all welcome to come stay with us even though we may be getting lots of damage here too..lol. My girls are begging us that we go to El Paso. Um, I don't know anyone in El Paso. I told DH when we got all these Katrina evacuees here that they were going to be bad luck for us and send us a hurricane this way. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut..lol.

Traci,

Praying for you, your family, and all those in line of this major storm. I'm sorry that you have to deal with this. Our country has certainly been dealt quite the card this hurricane season. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!!!

You are more then welcome to come here.
I would even meet you half way or even pick you up if I had to.
I know what it is like when you have to leave when a hurricane is coming. Finding a place is hard.
Please let me know if we could help.

First I wanted to say thank you to Mel and Desiree, you ladies make me want to cry with your generosity! My sister lives 150 miles from the coast which is farther than we live so hopefully we will be safe there. Unlike us she has lots of hills and valleys which might help protect us from tornadoes and wind. Where we live it is straight and flat with TONS of pine trees everywhere which is a huge concern. (knock on wood!)

Thank goodness we have hunters in our family and we have one family member who has a huge reserve water tank and a reserve gas tank. We even have lots of blow up beds and cots! lol

Everyone in Texas stay safe!!! Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!
