So I've done a lot of thinking since yesterday afternoon and I've come to realize that its time to take better care of myself.

You know what I found over the summer that makes drinking water easier?

Jessie, I hope you don't mind, but I told my DH about you. I tend to do that when there's a prayer request, so he can pray too, and especially if it's health-related.

What's kind of coincidental is that he said for me to tell you to drink a lot of water. Stay very hydrated. Not to give TMI, or sound gross for you if you're at all squeamish, but your pee should be almost clear according to Michael (not *you* specifically, but anyone who's trying not to be dehydrated).

He also said he was surprised your doctor put you on beta blockers so quickly without taking a few subsequent readings of your BP. And he asked if you were nervous, and maybe that's why you were tachycardic. He says a lot of times when he does vitals on patients, they're just nervous because he's wearing a white coat and stethoscope (which makes me laugh, because I can't imagine being nervous with Michael, but of course, I know him differently than a patient would, LOL!). He says if he gets a high reading, he'll sit down and talk with them and shoot the bull for a while, and have a conversation, even talk about himself and his life to get them not so focussed on themselves, and then do another reading once they've calmed down. So I thought I'd pass those doctor tips on to you. It could have been high because you were nervous and didn't even realize it. . . I did forget to mention the headache to him, though.

He also asked if you had had a lot of caffeine? Caffeine can raise your BP. It also dehydrates you. Once in a while, caffeine gives me heart palpitations if I drink too much. So next time you go to have your BP/HR checked, don't drink caffeine for several hours before you go.

He also said to tell you that while 145/99 is high, it's not off the charts, so calm down :)

Just thought I'd pass along my hubby's input.

Thanks Sofia and I don't mind at all if you tell Michael.

LOL Jessie, about the peeing: Michael is a huge advocate of drinking tons of water, because he had a kidney stone when he was an intern, and it was AGONIZING, and he blames it in part on too much caffeine, and not enough water. Ever since then, he constantly has a bottle of water when he's home. He tells me to drink a lot of water too, and I try to, but like you, I pee constantly when I drink a lot of water, so if I have to go somewhere, I won't drink water (I'm not that good about it).

Michael has told me 1000x that your kidneys will adjust, and you won't pee so much after a while. Just the same, you will probably continue to pee more, because what goes in must come out ;) For that reason, he doesn't drink as much water when he's at work in case he can't break away, but because he has been drinking several bottles of water per day for so many years, his kidneys have adjusted to the input, and he is not in the bathroom the way I am when I drink a lot of water. I thought I'd tell you that so that you don't find it so annoying peeing every half hour that you stop drinking. Give your kidneys time to relax and realize that the excess is here to stay and they don't have to flush you out so quickly.

Just thought I'd pass on the Pee Tip :)
