If my kids don't stop fighting. . . !!

What is up with my kids? Especially the boys!! All they have been doing for DAYS it seems is fighting with each other. Can they never play nicely for more than 5 minutes without screaming, crying, jumping each other, etc?? And Jenna actually BIT Tessa this morning! Luckily, she didn't break the skin. But OMGosh!! What is wrong with them? Are they just spoiled from all the stuff they got for Christmas? It is totally driving me nuts. It seems all I've been doing is punishing them and putting them in Time Out. And when Justin cries, he does it at the top of his lungs for effect. And Tessa is so dramatic, sniffing for half an hour. And Matthew is RUTHLESS with Justin. He called him a "punk" this morning. I sent him to his room for that one, too.

When do the boys go back to school?

I think there's something wrong with my kids that they hate each other so much!!

Mine too - I think its mainly being cooped up indoors for all of the break. And my mom told me something once - I had asked her WHY the girls were so horrid to each other, but wouldn't DARE treat a friend like that and she told me its because they are so comfortable w/each other. I mean, if they treated a school friend that way, they'd be told to buzz off and that would be the end of the friendship. But at home, they know they won't be "kicked off the team", they'll always be accepted here - in trouble, yes, but never abandoned...I try to look at it that way when the girls really tear into each other...

Thanks, guys! You all had some really great suggestions. I love the one from Rhonda about sticking them out in the yard. And making them have a staring contest is a good one, too. That's sure to make them laugh! All of you made me feel better to know that my kids are not the only ones who fight a lot. My DH told me last night that maybe part of it is because he and I don't fight too much. The times when he and I have had a fight, the kids get very good. I told him maybe we should stage a good fight and shut them all up, LOL! And Liz, I know you're right about them being comfortable at home and on their worst behavior. They're angels at school, and let loose at home. It's very true!!

I think I'm a bit tired from the Christmas celebrations, too. I had a good break today. Maybe I'll be more patient with the kids now. And the boys go back to school Tuesday. Yay!! :)

Thanks again for your words of sympathy and your great ideas!
