I'm proud of myself!

We went to eat at my parents' this afternoon for my dad's birthday tomorrow. My SIL pretty much outdid herself for rude behavior this time. It was actually kind of funny, because I had a good comeback. I'm proud of myself, LOL!!

Get this: She had the AUDACITY to tell me "You'd think with as much money as Michael earns, you wouldn't buy your kids clothes at Target." (!!) Can you *imagine* the guts it takes to be THAT rude and forthright?? Astounding, I know. But I was really proud of myself. I had a good comeback. Without missing a beat, I said "You'd think as old as you are, you wouldn't be so rude." LOL! That pretty much left her speechless. She's not used to me firing back, because I've taken it for years from her. She hates me for absolutely no reason. I've never done a thing to her. Of course, she waits until I'm not with Michael to make her rude comments, since she flirts with him relentlessly and is just *sugary sweet* around him. So my strategy is to stick right by him and hold his hand the whole time I'm around her, or be otherwise very lovey-dovey. That drives her nuts, too, since she has the hots for him, LOL! She's a total case study. She made the "Target" comment in the few minutes that we were not together the entire afternoon (next time I'll follow him to the bathroom, LOL!). And yeah, my girls were wearing Target dresses. So what? She must shop there too, or she wouldn't recognize that they came from Target.

BTW, I *love* Target!! And if my husband earned $1 million/year, I'd still shop at Target!! LOL!

Rude, rude, rude, rude. . . Amazing how rude some people can be, without blinking an eye!

And my mom was on a roll today, too, as I figured she'd be. This fuels my SIL's fire. She loves it when my mom's mad at me. My mom is upset because we're eating Thanksgiving dinner with my ILs instead of her. So she argued about that in Greek with me for a good half an hour on and off. Michael knows about 10 words of Greek, so I think it's pretty rude of her to speak Greek in front of him, so I answer her in English. I told her: "Listen to yourself, Mom, and how negative you're being. And you wonder why we don't choose to eat with you." She asked me if my ILs cook better than her (?? She's psycho, I swear! Like it's about the food??) and then said she doesn't understand why we'd eat with them on every holiday (we don't) since Michael's mom is dead. Yeah, OK, she said it in Greek and he didn't understand her, but STILL!

So that was my fun afternoon today. . . Actually, it wasn't that bad, because the food was great (my mom is a *good* Greek cook!), and my kids had fun with their numerous cousins, and I had a good time with my sisters, and it was good to see my dad and my brother (poor thing with a wife like my SIL!! You gotta feel sorry for the guy!), and Michael and I just stayed really close and held hands and kind of stayed in our own little world. It's the only way to deal with my family sometimes. I tell him "It's like going to the zoo." LOL!

And despite my mom's negativity, my husband is always so kind to her. He compliments her on her food, tells her she looks nice, tells her he's missed her (yeah, right!), and when he hugs her Goodbye, he always says "I love you" (she never says it back). He's a master at kissing up, and has actually made her like him over the years, despite herself, LOL!

So I survived that one today. I'm proud of myself :) Our fun romantic night away Friday night gave me the energy to deal with my mom and SIL today!

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!!

Sofia

accckkkkk.make it stop lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good grief lady, reading your post, I swear I was having flash backs about my mil and sil. I am dead serious. (minus the part about my sil wanting to sleep with my dh, because that's ewwy, cause its her brother lol)

but the mom and the food thing...holly crap, my mil almost pinned me up against a wall at one point, after I commented on a dish that someone else brought to her party. I had said how good it was, she took offesne to that. She demanded to know who was the better cook.

My dh has been traumatised by the same thing. As a child, his paternal grandmother came for a 3 month visit, and she and dh's mom did not get along. poor dh and his sis were pinned against the wall, with screaming and crying grandma and thier mom, saying "who makes the best food????"

yikes.

Great comeback...next time be a bit more rude lol. btw, did anyone hear your comeback, and what did they say> lol??? I cant believe that cow. good for you Sofia, I am proud of you. Also, regardless of what your dh makes, you can shop WHERE EVER you want to!!! (I know you shop at Target, because that pic of Jett I posted, you said Justin had the same shirt, which I thought was great because it was a great shirt) lol)!!!

dont let them get you. You're a bigger person than that!
