I've missed everyone. I haven't been on the board in a few days. I came down with a bad stomach virus. Michael told me it's called a Norovirus, and he's treated a lot of it in the ER in the past month, and it makes you VERY sick. He's not kidding! I threw up all night Sunday, and then ran a fever of 102 and had one of the worst headaches I've ever had!! I couldn't even get out of bed, except to get sick. I pretty much slept all day Monday and yesterday.
Last night my fever broke, and today I'm feeling sooooooo much better! Wow, I feel human again!! But I don't have all my energy back yet. Today is also the first day I've eaten anything since Sunday, which came back up again (sorry for the gruesome details). I lost 4 pounds in 3 days! I actually need to put back on a pound or two, I'm not looking good at all. I finally am getting my appetite back.
Thank God for my wonderful loving husband who took SUCH great care of me. He worked all night Sunday night, came home early when I called him that I was puking, got the boys off to school, and STAYED UP all day to watch the kids, help with homework, cook dinner, put the kids to bed, and take care of me. He was up 36 hours with no sleep! I guess medical residency trained him for those long marathons with no sleep, but I did feel bad. He never complained, never bothered me, just took care of business. He took off work yesterday, because I was still running a fever, and watched the kids all day and dealt with getting all of them to school (including the girls!), etc. He even managed to squeeze in getting me a bouquet of Get Well flowers and a card. He has been such a total love!!
I missed my first class yesterday. There was no way I could make it. I could barely walk, I was so out of it! I just hope all I missed was going over the syllabus, and stuff like that. Not that it really matters, I'm not taking it for credit, but I feel so bad to have missed on the first day! I was nervous enough going back to school! I'll speak to the professor tomorrow, and if I need a doctor's note. . . well. . . I can get that at home, LOL!
I am PRAYING no one else in my house gets this virus. Michael has already missed work because I've been sick, so it would suck for him to get sick. And the kids, well. . . stomach virus as virulent as this one is a TOTAL DRAG with little kids. It's constant cleaning and disinfecting of bodily effluvia. They never make it to the bathroom at 3 years old!!
It's going to take me a while to catch up on the board, but I'm glad to be back. At least this Norovirus was pretty short-lived, but I don't recommend it!!

Ugh!
What a total bummer!
I'm glad you're on the mend and had Michael to take over for you and take care of you!
Mahri and I had that the week before Christmas...it is a total nightmare and I hope the kids don't get it!
omg Sofia you poor thing! You're so blessed to have such a wonderful dh to help you through all of that though. We missed you around here (although I haven't been around much myself), and I'm SO glad you are feeling better!
((((HUGS))))
I am so sorry Sofia.
Thanks, everyone! I'm getting better by the hour. I appreciate all your sweet thoughts :) It's nice to come back on the board and get so much sympathy. I feel spoiled, LOL!
Avoid that norovirus if you can!!
Poor you!! Well, I asked my DH your question on the phone a little while ago, and he says that there are lots of different strains. While you might have immunity to one of them, you wouldn't to another, and that immunity is also short-lived, because both viruses mutate quickly. He said these are some of the most contagious viruses, and you can "shed" the virus (yuck!) for a few days after your symptoms go away. Also, that the difference between the 2 is that kids get rotavirus more, and it is more serious in kids, while adults are usually hit harder by norovirus.
HTH, and I hope you avoid it in the future!! It sucks! I know what you mean about the "coming out both ends", LOL! I thought I was DYING for a while there, or maybe I wished I would!! :P
