Juice Before an Ultrasound

I remember being told to drink juice before an ultrasound to get the baby to move around. I can't remember how long before my ultrasound with DD that I drank juice (or was it Mt. Dew?). Should it be right before my ultrasound in the waiting room? Or in the car on my way to the doctor's office to give it time to kick in? Or even before that? Have any of you ladies done this before your ultrasounds?

I was given juice by my perinatologist to get her to move into a certain position.

I personally wouldn't bother... the tech will probably be able to see everything she needs to see without the baby moving around much. I had a friend once who drank a coke on the way to the ultrasound, but it didn't kick in until afterwards so it didn't do any good. Of course afterwards she was miserable from being kicked by an overly stimulated baby lol.

I had to do that for a stress test because my daughter just wouldn't move. She decided it was sleepy time. I drank some juice and within 30 mintues she was kicking and moving. I have never heard of it for an ultrasound. I mean I know they want you to drink plenty of water, but never heard of the juice thing. Trish :)

I remember them saying I could drink water before my ultrasound, but for my 2nd DD, they never told me I had too.
