My Ils would fall into the category of do not use proper restraints. The car seats either aren't in tight enough or the straps aren't tight enough... or they try to put them in the front seat...My parents are better on the car seat thing because they have us install them but my mom is a crazy driver and I cringe riding with her...

I understand the point that grandparents try to be more careful in the car when they are driving their grandchildren, but this is only the case with FIL. MIL has a lead foot. Throw her diabetes into the mix (which has caused her to lose consciousness before), and I really don't want her driving the kids around at all. My parents drive like crazy people, too, but they don't ever have a reason to drive the kids.

None of the grandparents pay much attention to the detail of car seats. Sure, they'll put my kids into their seats, but they really don't pay much attention to the installation details or harness.

I hate riding with all four of them. I have to close my eyes and just hope we make it to our destination, so I really would rather they not drive the kids at all.
