Hi ladies. I'm going back to working after SAH for a year. Our finincal (sp?) situation is NOT so good so I needed to find a job. I am starting college (towards nursing) this fall so I was trying to find something medically related. A local nursing home pays for CNA training if you stay with them for a year. I took it... This summer it'll be 40 hours a week (school plus on the floor training). But after that I'll be working 2nd shift. This fall I could work part-time or work 36 hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and get paid for 40. I'm so scared and exited though... I've never done anything like this before though. Plus I feel so bad/guilty about taking my son to the babysitter more and not being around him as much. Am I doing the right thing...? It's such a GOOD opportunity for my to get REAL experience and plus it'll cut off 2 classes and a lab I won't have to take. AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! ...Help?

Only you can decide if this is the right decision for you & your family. But I do have to say that being a CNA is definately a great opportunity. My Mom was a CNA for years & I was a Home Health Aide. I'd atleast get your CNA & then decide from there if that is what you want to do for now. And you can't beat not having to take those classes. That will save time & money in the long run. Good luck!

Hi - Well, this is off the cuff, but it sounds like you have already made your decision. I think you just have to do what you think is right for you and your family. The only thing I would point out is what if you decide to have another baby? Do you want to stay at home with him or her for 1 year? The bottome line is, do whatever you think is right and don't feel guilty about it. Try it out. If working doesn't work right now you could always do it later. I know around here CNAs are always in demand so I think whatever you choose will work out o.k. If working now is what is best then by all means do it. I think by being moms we are darned if we do and darned if we don't. HUGS.
