I am a occasional lurker on this board. My husband might have a job posibility in Louisville. Was wondering if anyone has any info about that area? I do not have clue about that area and was hoping for any input. I'm originally from Minnesota.
Thanks
Jodi

I used to live in Lexington, which is a little over an hour from Louisville. Louisville has some great aspects: a good arts scene, lots of concert opportunities, etc. It's close to both Lexington and Cincinnati, and about two hours from Indianapolis, so you have some major cities within easy driving distance. The Kentucky Derby is a HUGE event, with parades and fireworks. They have a minor leage baseball team that used to be named the River Bats, but now I think they're just the Bats. There are some fabulous restaurants and shopping opportunities too. That being said, there are some areas of Louisville that I would not want to live, just like any town. You'll want to do your research on where would be a good place to live. Another thing to keep in mind is that I think Louisville can be a dirty place. There's factories and such, and it can look kind of gray there. However, I've never heard of any health concerns because of that. It's definitely not the prettiest city I've ever seen, but it's better than some.

Thanks for the links. I've been checking them out. He will probably be offered a choice of jobs between there and dallas and he is leaning toward the dallas offer. Thanks for the help though. Maybe if I ever get time (I have a 7, almost 5, 2 1/2 year, 3 month old) I can finally join your board instead of just lurking here and there.
Thanks again
Jodi

Amber,
Thanks so much for the response. He will more than likely be offered a job there or dallas and he is leaning toward the dallas job. So now I am off to learn more about dallas.....
at least I learn about the cities he tells me when they talk about them...ha, ha.
Thanks
Jodi

Hey Jodi, Welcome to the Board. I used to live around Louisville and I go to the Kentucky Derby every year with our business. I also used to live in Dallas and my husband is from MN. If you do move to Louisville try looking on the Indiana side...New Albany...Covered Bridge is over there if your dh likes to golf. There is a lot of history that comes with Louisville. It may look like a dirty old city but there is a lot of glamour and old money...visit the Brown Hotel and make dinner reservations at the English Grill...It is expensive but well worth the money! Don't forget Church Hill Downs and Louisville Slugger Museum!
