How long will it take for the milk to dry up? I decided not to pump now because I was not getting much even though my breasts are engorged and have been for days now.
Mel, im not sure if i missed a post somewhere, but have you tried nursing, not just pumping??? i had a pump and you know what???? i got more out by HAND EXPRESSING than i did with a pump... i dont know how long it takes to dry up... i nursed all 3 for a few months, and it just quit on its own by month 3... kinda weird/frustrating, but anyways i hope all is well other wise, and no matter what you always choose whats best & and dont let anyone tell you otherwise!!! No, I just pumped only and then decided not to do it anymore cause I was getting nothing. Even though my milk has come in. I just wanted to knwo how long it would take for my breasts to empty. They are full and hurt and not going down at all and it has been 3-4 days now.
Mel, Im not sure exactly how long it too for mine, maybe like 1-2 weeks?? I was very very engorged for about a week and it finally started to go down after that. I know it's painful, but hang in there :)
When they are engorged like that and you are trying to let htem dry up, go ahead and express a small amount out of each one, that will relieve the preasure but yet not increase your milk supply.
