I just wondered if anyone is a member of a local chapter of Mothers and More and what you think of it. Do you like it? Is it worthwhile? I'm planning to join and am going to go to a meeting as a "trial" but just wanted to see what people think of it.

Thanks!

Mothers and More is an organization of mothers, sequencing mothers is what they call it....which means who put careers on hold to raise children. The chapter in my area has weekly playgroups, monthly business meetings, monthly Mothers night out and also monthly Mothers Night in. I think it will be nice for support but don't know anyone who has done this. Here is a link to the national website:

I'm a member of our local chapter, and while they do say they're targeting sequencing mothers, there are certainly plenty of members who WOH. They have 2 evening meetings per month, which I have yet to go to. Many of the mothers love them, but I'm kind of a homebody. My dh works long hours, and I don't want to be walking out the door as he's walking in. Our chapter also hosts lots of playgroups. I haven't been to as many as I like because they're mostly in the morning, and until just recently, that conflicted with ds's nap schedule. Howeer, the nice thing is that, if you don't see a playgroup that meets your needs, you can host one yourself that does. I'm hosting my first p.m. playgroup this week.

I think whether the group is good for you will totally depend on your local chapter and what you want to get out of it. The group, on a national level, is a little too political in the wrong (to me) direction...they're pretty liberal, and I'm EXTREMELY conservative. However, I didn't join it as a political action committee. I joined it for the playgroups and to make some friends. If you click with the women in your chapter, then it's absolutely worth it. And there's no way to know until you go meet them.

Thanks for the input! It helped. I can't wait to see what the women are like tonight...hopefully I will like it. I'm more of a liberal than a conservative so I'm not really worried about that. Thanks again.

Hi Meg! I'm just a lurker here, but wanted to give my 2 cents about Mothers & More. I was a member for over 5 years and just want to say it is an awesome group! Every chapter is different, but the goal is the same - support and friendship for moms and their kids. I hope you enjoy your first meeting : )

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick question, I take it this is in the U.S.? Does anyone know if this is or anything like it is available in Canada?

TIA,
