Have you given any thought as to what you'll be giving for Mother's Day this year?

I'm just sending my mom a card. I'll do something special for her birthday in June, its too expensive to ship things twice. MIL is DH's department. I don't expect any gifts either. My birthday is next week so this weekend Dh and I are going to get dinner and see a movie and that will be my mother's day & birthday gift.

Happy early birthday! That sounds like a great plan. What movie do you think you'll see?

This is my first, so I'm pretty excited, but I haven't asked for anything as I'm terrible at coming up with things I want. We're going to spend the weekend in our hometown with our moms. I'm sure we'll end up doing a big lunch on Saturday at his mom's house with my mom and sis also coming along. We tend to do things like that. I'd kinda like a picnic in the park or something to let the kids run and play. Mine doesn't care (only 6 months) but our nieces and nephew are getting to be a handful all cooped up in the house and since MIL's backyard isn't exactly kid-friendly they have to play in the front yard which requires that adults be out there with them. So I think a bucket of fried chicken and the park would be lots of fun. Maybe I'll high-jack the planning process here! I have no idea what we're getting our moms though. I'd like to get my mom some nice smelly hand cream or something she wouldn't normally get for herself. His mom doesn't really use or seem to appreciate anything so I'm sure DH will just stop at the ATM and

Manda :)

In my family we don't celebrate Mother's Day so I won't be getting anything for mom this year. But we just getting a card for DH's Nana this year. I won't be getting anything this year.

I've heard Fast Five is a good one to see in the theaters! I haven't seen any of the movies in that series. I wanted to see the first one when it came out, but DH wasn't interested so I never got around to seeing any of them.

The first 2 have been on Starz/Encore lately and we are getting them free for the year through Dish so I saw them. I saw the first one when it came out but hadn't seen the rest.

How did everyone's Mother's Day go?

We were able to spend most of the day outside, which was nice. My favorite gift was the picture Ian made for me. I didn't get the scarves finished in time, but I've been working like a crazy person on them.

Saw some very nice Mother's Day plans and events here.

Being a widowed Father, Mother's Day is the most difficult Holiday that comes around. For other widows, it's Christmas or Valentine's Day. I guess it has a lot to do with my 3 children. There are so many great, loving parents on this board. I think I have a harder time with Mother's day than my children. That's because as a parent, we all want our kids to be like all their peers. It's tough when someone doesn't have a mom on Mother's day at school.

But...we had a great day on Mother's Day. I'm just so damn positive and encouraging - there were no other options. We spent some time at the cemetary, and we visited my Mother. Fortunately, I had my kids
