This girl, I'm tellin' ya - we are going to have our hands full with her - and the BOYS!! Eeeek! Last summer she would flirt at the lot line between our house and the boys next door. She would go over there and say "Oh boys", while standing there with her little hand on her hip. Now, she can't seem to go a day without playing with the little boy across the street. Her and Jacob are inseperable! It is just too cute! His mom and I are very good friends, so we often joke that they certainly would be getting great in-laws someday! LOL! She is always holding his hand, reading to him (!), and now, she was invited to his birthday party - she was the only girl on his list. Chris (his mom) tried to discourage it, as she didn't want Molly to feel funny, but he was INSISTENT! They spend time together almost every day, as Molly goes there while I am at recess with Katie. So, they have really formed a nice little bond. I told Chris, if nothing else, Jacob could be the big brother to Molly that she never had. I just think that she is hilarious when it comes to being around him.

Anyone else notice their child forming special friendships with those of the opposite sex?

That is sooooo cute!! My Matt is the same way about a little girl at church. They have known eachother since they were four and they are so funny together. They even survived the girls and boys cutie stage and aways sit together in church and play together. What is funny is that the little girl is so bossy!! LOL She reminds me of me!!!

How sweet!!! I wish I had a girl sometimes, they can be so adorable.
My son does not like girls that way yet. He says he has girlfriends, but I think that is only because everyone else is saying it. In pre-k he refered to them as ponys, because of the horses they played with on the playground

Wendy, That is so cute. My dd Lexus use to be that way when she was 5. She absolutely loved my sil nephew. One time they held hands while trick-or-treating. Now he is preteen and she is only 8. She gets very mad and embarassed when we mention them. Who knows, maybe when she get a lot older she might be interested in him again. His parents would make wonderful in-laws....lol.

Hi..I'm sorry, I haven't read the other responses...my DD-9 became close friends with a little boy in 2nd grade, when they were 7. We aren't neighbors, but they did have many playdates, spoke on the phone A LOT, and exchanged special gifts on holidays, their choice btw..on DD's 8th birthday, in lieu of a party, she got to invite a friend to a dinner out at a nice restaurant with mom and dad. She chose this little boy, he showed up in a suit and was such a gentleman all evening. Stood when she did, etc. I think it was a good confidence boosting thing for both of them. They are still friends, but that's all, just two kids that clicked and happen to be of the opposite sex.
It's great that you maintain your sense of humor. And its always a good idea to keep your eyes open, just in case.
