My life as I know it is over!

I can barely even write this, but my girls are giving up their naps!! NOOOOOOO! I think it's partly my fault, because their schedule has been so messed up. We've had vacation, and then I have them at the pool in the afternoons because it's so hot. They sometimes fall asleep on the way home (even in their wet bathingsuits), but wake up as soon as I turn off the van motor. While we were on vacation, they didn't nap at all, and haven't napped since we got home.
We also got them "big girl beds" and moved them out of their cribs. They share a room, and don't fall asleep as easily in the big beds. They want to get up and play. They have their own bathroom, and last night after they were put to bed, Jenna got up and went and attempted to brush her teeth herself (even though DH had already brushed her teeth!). She got toothpaste all over the sink and in her hair. We didn't even know it until I heard the water running as I brought laundry upstairs. I went to investigate and there she was in all her glory! Jenna is my firecracker. And now in the night they get up and go sleep with each other. I don't even care about that as slong as they sleep.
What I do care about are NO MORE NAPS DURING THE DAY!! How could it have come to this??
My life is so over! Nap time is when I sent the boys out in the backyard (or during the school year they were at school) and had time to get things done, and do my thing. Ugh, I am just so not ready for their naps to be over!! They will be 3 in a month. I guess it's time. Why couldn't they have napped until they were 18?

Sofia,
BTDT! It sucks. The advice that I got, and used, was...when they stop taking naps, put them to bed an hour earlier. That way they are still getting enough sleep, and you get a little peace from them. HTH!

That stinks!
LOL, Sofia. Maybe after a brief hiatus they'll go back to napping. They could be just a little out of sorts from all the change. Or maybe you'll be able to get them into bed a little earlier thanks to giving up naps. Think happy thoughts...

sounds like it's time for some "Kid Stoned Chewable Valium" LOL
maybe when school starts you'll be able to get them back into a routine... hang in there!
I have walked a mile-and-a-half in your shoes.
