Naps?

My kids have never been normal with naps. My oldest and youngest gave up their morning nap at about 9 months and my middle dd took a morning nap till she was 15 months old. My ex-h and I split up before my oldest dd gave up naps, so I'm a little in the dark here. My 3 year old spends more time fighting a nap than actually taking a nap. Is it time for her to give up nap? Or do kids need naps longer than this?

All kids are different and I think alot of it depends on their nighttime sleeping as well. Both of mine started fighting their nap at 3. By 3 1/2 nap was gone! But they went to bed at 7pm and slept until 6 or 7am, so I didn't worry about it.
The two girls that I babysit are almost 4 and just turned 5. They both nap when they are here. The 4 yr. old actually asks to take her nap every day. I let her sleep 2 hours and wake her up. But there are days when I swear she would sleep 4 hours if I let her. She is afraid of the dark and has alot of nightmares and doesn't sleep well at night too.
The 5 yr. old fought a nap here until week before last. Now she is napping both days that she is here. I have to wake her up after 2 hours also!
If it's become a hassle and your dd is sleeping enough at night and doesn't seem overly tired without a nap, I'd let her give it up!
