...kids come to this kind of party?
I have decided on the theme for Matt's 8th b-day party which is in April. He really wants to have a Fear Factor party but I am undecided. I hope parents would think it was all in good fun but I want to make sure what you all think.
I was going to order real chocolate covered instects from a chocolate shop. I thought this would be funny for the first "Challenge", but being an animal lover myself I am afraid someone may be offended..would you be?
For the second challenge the children will have to stick their hand in a bowl of worms that I will buy from the bait shop, they will have to get a key out and unlock some handcuffs to complete the challenge.
Next I was going to put grasshoppers(you can get a couple of dozen from the pet shops for 12.00 dollars) and they kids will have to stick in their hands in an aquarium and retrieve plastic spiders to complete the challenge.
The last challenge will be a rented rock climbing wall from a party supply place. There will be a Fear Factor winner based on the time they complete their challenge and all the kids will receive certificates that say Fear is not a Factor for__________________. I survived Matt's b-day party of 2005.
So what do you think? Would you let your kids come? Would you think it was to gross? Would you serve the food before or after the party?
Thanks!
Traci

just my personal opinion, no I wouldn't...
I personally find the show completely disgusting.
Now if it's just going to be a bunch of boys, no girls, then go for it. Boys are gross anyway LOL... I should know, I have three younger brothers.
My only concern is that if one of the boys aren't "up to the challenge", would any of the other boys ridicule him and say things like "baby" or "wuss", making him feel bad. The last thing you would want is for anyone to leave a party feeling bad because they couldn't step up to a challenge.
JMO... hope I'm not stepping on any toes here :o)
Oh, Totally!
At first, hearing "fear factor" conjured ugly images...I'm not a huge reality TV fan, but your descriptions of the tasks!!! I want to come! It sounds like great fun. Your son is lucky to have such a creative (and brave) Mom. I hope it goes well. Let me know!

PS. I am a biologist and a HUGE animal lover, to the point of being a little crazy (big furry dog and 2 cats share our home)...eating bugs is much more humain than eating factory farmed pigs, cows or chickens. More nutritious too. Not so different from eating lobster!
Ok so Fear Factor isn't my show, but it's what Matt is into so go for it! You have some awesome ideas and he's lucky to have such a cool mom! :) If you get too worried call up some of the parents and describe what's planned and get their reactions. I think it sounds awesome and something he'll remember for a long time to come. Good luck with planning and remember you can't please everyone and it's his big day so everyone else can go eat worms literally, lol! hehe

It seems like fun and no one is going to get hurt.
I wish we could come
My 4 1/2 yr old daughter likes to wa
Hmmmm, I probably would but then I would probably make sure that I stayed at this party as well.
And instead of using real insects for this I would find a recipe that would mimic the insects instead.
Good luck!

Sorry but I would not allow my kids to attend. All of these so called reality tv shows are pushing the boundrys of decency, family vaules and the world is a mess already do we need to continue the downward decent? I don't let my children watch these shows, and I certinally would not create this kind of party for them.
I don't want to teach my children to eat bugs or do something else to get attention. Isn't fear factor more than just eating or puting body parts in discusting stuff? Can't you come up with a few kid friendly stunts.

I think it is a cool idea.
