Need some baby advice...

Well, its been almost 15yrs since I had to take a baby off a bottle and I am worrying myself silly over it.Yes, I am the old new Mommy here at 44. Gracie is 1yr old now and the doctor said "its time". I dont remember having any problems with my boys but I dont remember how I did it? My main concern is she will wake up sometimes around 5:00am and I just give her a bottle and she sleeps until 7:15am. It helps a Mom that likes the sleep! Most of the time she sleeps until about 6:30 and I just get up with her but when its earlier than 6:00 I dont function very well. The car rides will be tough too. It takes 30 minutes to get anywhere around here since we live outside of town.

Anyway, any suggestions? Do I wean her down or just put water in the bottle? She doesnt like the sippy cups that well. She just likes to play with them. I use them as much as I can but she doesnt get too much liquid out of them into her little tummy!

Mollie,

I've never had to wean my own kids from the bottle since I breastfed exclusively, but as a preschool teacher sometimes it was up to me.

This is what I used to do around naptime. First I established a new sleepy time routine for them. First bottle, then wash hands, and brush teeth. Story time was next then a lulaby. If they woke asking for a bottle, I did not speak since that is a sure way to wake them. I would rub there back and hum a song and If I just knew they would wake I would water the bottle down each day until it was nothing but water. During feeding times I would help them to hold their sippy cups, and only put formula or milk inside.

Thanks for the advice Traci, I really appreciate it. Its hard not to feel old here because I really am old enough to be alot of the posters mother (hehe, my stepson is 24 DH was 19 when he had him). I really am young at heart though and am enjoying my little girl so much.
