If it is just for the teachers I would do a theme dinner you could have lots of fun with that.

Almost Summer Hiwiian luau..complete with lei's infatable swimming pools next to each table filled with floating candles, and tropical decorations. Put someone in charge of teaching a few little one's a hula dance complete with homeade grass skirts for a presentation..if budget allows there are hawwian dancers in most every state that come to party's. Have a Hawiaan Buffet..

Roast suckling pig with steamed rice..(have dads in charge of this) You can always have ham as a substitute.

Mock drumsticks(chicken wings)

Pineapple with star fruit

Tropical fruit salad

various tropical fruits as decoratons(can use lemmons and limes bananna's for budget control. I have all these recipes including roast suckling pig

Have a french rivera them complete with Gondola's made from refrigerator boxes, and french food. Can make this funny by having french fries and salad with french dressing and hamburgers on french bread.

Pick special students who have earned rewards to serve their favorite teacher, tell parents to keep costs down to please feed them before bringing, maybe have special cookies for them to have as a treat after....

I have lots more ideas, please ask, if you can't find what your looking for..if you have a theme I can help with ideas for inexpensive and fun decorations.

Good luck and have fun.

Traci

Sounds like you may be going with italian food? Maybe set up the table and atmosphere like an itilian restaurant. Maybe some of the older children can volunteer to be servers. Helping to serve the drinks? Just an idea. It is hard without knowing what kind of budget you are on or the room you have. You can also make the room more intimate by lighting candles at each table along with dimming the lights. Have some italian music playing softly in the background. If you look thru some of the search sites they can help you find things on Italian themed decorations. As for the little tokens of appreciation make it simple. Maybe things the teachers can really use. When I worked as a teacher I loved getting things like pens and pencils without the apple theme. I got too many apple themed things. Just something I could actually use in my classroom. Paper-pens-pencils-crayons-chalk. A free movie rental-candy (chocolate). I always loved receiving candy. These you can have sitting next to each table setting. Red and white checked cello paper with candy in it. Some stores carry italian themed candy. Just a few ideas. The simplier the better. Teachers want to relax and not have a rushed atomosphere. Something personal. Have fun and good luck!!

As for food the ziti with meatballs sounds great-Ceasar salad-toasted bread-you can also have sparkling grape juice or apple juice in plastic wine glasses. They sell the little italian custard desserts too or have italian ice cream for dessert.
