I am fairly new to this whole SAHM thing. My daughter Carolyn was born on November 7, 2003, so I have been at home with her for about 81/2 months, but am still adjusting. Before she was born, I was a very independant person, I loved going to work everyday, no matter what kind of dead end job I was doing, I just like to work. I guess I really liked making my own money and supporting myself.

So now, I am a little down sometimes because although I make maternity benefits (if you can call next to nothing a benefit), I am so dependant on my commonlaw spouse for money!! It sucks. I do enjoy being at home with my daughter, but I really wish I had my own income. Does anyone else feel this way? I thought of going back to work early, but now am taking a correspondance course so that when I do go back to work, I can do something that I can make a career out of, instead of just going to work!!

Anyway, I'm sure I'l be on with tons of questions!! Just wanted to announce that I'm here!!

Welcome to the board. My name is Mel. I have been staying home for 3 years with my 2 boys ages 5 years old and 7 months old.
I see your point in wanting your own income. Have you thought of working partime or going back to work since you miss it so much?
Glad to have you.

I have thought about it, but now I have started a correspondance course, and just don't have the time. Besides, part time work would maybe cover the cost of daycare (it is very expensive where I live), and it just isn't worth it until I can at least get something full time!! I would love to go back though! I just don't see it happening until at least this fall!! Oh well, I also very much enjoy being at home with my daughter!! I love being here to see her do everything first!!
