but I'm looking for advice. We built an open concept house, so I have a great room, kitchen, dinette, foyer all open together, yet separate areas, KWIM? My dinette, windows have blue plaid curtains, my great room has a gray/green valance and I have a bamboo roman shade ordered to finish this window off. My question is this - where do you start/stop paint colors to keep rooms separate? Any ideas? I have two huge walls, as I have a 16 foot cathederal ceiling in these rooms. One wall is in the great room area, and I would like to paint that a dark accent color (a dark green) and the opposite wall has kitchen cabinets on it, but it still goes up 16 ft, total. That one, I would like to paint dark blue. Would this be silly? Also, I would like to paint the other walls in the great rm. a pale gray/green and the other walls in the kitchen a pale blue. What do I paint the foyer? It is more in the great room. Do I pick a 3rd green color, in between the 2? Would all of these different colors look goofy? I am really tired of painters white, so I need color - but I also need help!! LOL! Any help would be appreciated.

I would just go for it! If you dont liek it, you can paint over a few walls. On the ose home reno shows, quite often they are open concept houses, and sometimes the rooms are "separated" by individual (but complementary) colors, or they are basically all the same color, but kept unique by each space having thier own accent colors. i think the colors sounds nice! Post a picture when you are done!

Me too! I'm just starting to pick out my colors. At our last house I had a free color consultation done by a local paint store. Do they do that around here? I was thinking of calling Sherman Williams or someplace like that. Otherwise buy a quart or so of the colors you're thinking and try them out on the wall. Be sure you like it before you do the whole thing. It will save you alot of time and money : )
