comment on the fact that I have a mixed race dd!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!! This has never happened to me. She is 17months old now. We went to the store today, and this b#i%ch actualy said to me, that "next time I should use protection" and then went on to say how screwed up my dd is going to be not knowing who she is!!! Get fricking real!

She will know, she has her mom (me, white) and all my family, which is large, and her dad (who is Fillipino) and his huge family.... what the heck is wrong with people! I was almost too stunned to react, but I did, at the last minute! (Not very mature on my part, but hey, nor was she!) I told her my dd had a better chance of knowing who she is due to 2 great families, as apposed to her kkk-type kids and thier sorry, deranged excuse for parents. I then add a few bleep words to top it off...I was so freaking mad, and still am...what the heck is wrong with people!

Serenity now, serenity now...... God help me if I ever see that bit@h again. aarrggghhhhh I could spew for days.... Half my family are hicks, i admit it, they are old school farmers (in a small town), who thought at first dh was black when they first met him, because he wasn't white, so therefore there is only one other color of people right!!! lol (idiots)But even they love him, and never are rude or disrespectful, he is acepted as family, and that's what he is, they all call him to talk to him, not me!!!! and this stupid cow, who lives in a big city with all different races can't grasp the fact????? Good Lord.

What a terrible situation to have someone address you like that. I have no idea what I would have done probably stood there in shock. I know someone posted a list of things to say if people ask you about having more children (they were all smart replies) and maybe there is a similar list for these situations? It might be good to have a comeback that doesn't involve "special grown-up words" before your DD becomes old enough to be a little mimic. I've learned from personal experience that my DD picks up all the words in songs, etc. so I really have to watch myself.

I am SO sorry that you had to go through that. I probably would've gone through the roof as well! My stepmom is Filipino, and I have a 6 year old half brother that is absolutely the most beautiful child. My dad, stepmom, and brother all make a yearly trip overseas to visit her family. He knows exactly who his family is, who he is, and is full of self confidence.

oh, and this is from DH: "don't listen to that stupid idiot, she doesn't know what she's talking about"

LOL... he's a trip.

Anyway, sending LOTS of hugs from one mixed family to another :o)

Just so you know, my jaw hit the floor when I read your message... My best friend's husband is Filipino and they have two beautiful, well-rounded little boys with a third on the way. His family is huge and hers is rather large as well.. even my family is welcomed into his family with open arms, and the amount of love and support they have for everyone is amazing. We love when they have parties and get togethers because everybody has soo much fun and it is neat that our kids get to eat different kinds of food and watch the ladies play Mah-jung. I know it is really hard, but sometimes people that say things like that to other people just don't deserve a response from you at all, maybe just a dirty look that says you are the biggest idiot in the world...

I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen to you again, it is amazing to me that there are people this naive walking around.

I can't believe that. It is so incredibly awful. Unfortunately, a lot of my family are like that. (Maybe it was one of my uncles...J/K)

Your daughter sounds like she must be beautiful, and I am so glad she is too young to know what was going on.

I am so sorry lesley! I know this can be a very upsetting and even scary situation. You suddenly realize people notice a difference in you child.

To tell you a little about my family....My Dh is what ignorant people refer to as "Mexican". We live in Texas so there are a lot of Mexican people in this area but my Dh is not one of them. My Dh gets really ticked off when people call him a Mexican...not because he feels bad towards the Mexican people but because he is an AMERICAN! My Dh was born in America, and on both sides of his family up to his great great grandparents on both sides. Now of course Texas used to be a part of Mexico but we are still researching as who my Dh's actual ancestors are. We know he is Seminole Indian on his

If it was me I would have given her a bit more than words (bad temper)...I would have flattened her face.. I am married to a Mexican American myself...last name Perez. I think this person either needed to be taught a "southern" lesson of a good a@@ stomping or carted off by police for harassment. Never the less, I think its good you stood up for yourself..because letting people walk all over what you stand for to me is worse than at least expressing how you feel in "adult words". I think I would have told her "that at least my kids have two very intelligent parents that have a shot of even going to harvard...her's would be lucky to get out of the 6th grade with her 50's thought process."

Good luck to you with getting over this...I know when people act like the monsters they are its hard to take it and walk away.
