Today has been a crazy day for me and my soon to be 2yr old daughter...I have a very good feeling she has pretty much hit the "terrible 2's" she has been such a brat today...fresh...saying no to everything and having a melt down every time she sees me pick something up or put something away....I'm 26wks preg. w/ my 2nd child, and am trying to get things ready for the baby, making space and rearranging things for storage, and she has been unbearable for me to try and get things done, very whiney and fresh...I've never seen this side of her, and am dreading the "2 stage" that is yet to come! I never thought I'd be so happy for her nap time to come around, because she is driving me crazy! Sorry, just needed to vent!!!!!

(((((((HUGS))))))) to you!!!!
the "twos" are hard enough to deal with, but add on the impending arrival of a younger sibling and it's like throwing coal on a fire. Remember that she can feel your stress... if you are busy trying to get things ready for a baby, she knows that something is about to change. She may not understand just what yet, but her routine and surroundings are changing, and at this age it's difficult for them to understand and adapt. Make sure you include her as much as possible... let her put clothes and blankets in dresser drawers for the baby, pick out toys, encourage her to talk to and kiss the baby in your belly, and look at pictures of babies with her.
Here's an article you might check out: http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/newborn/siblings.html

Hang in there... I know it's frustrating, but it'll get better!!!!

Big hugs

I can relate to the 2 year old. Sophia just turned 2 in December and some days I ask myself "who is this child". I have the whining! ugh, it is the worst.
If you ever need to vent, I'm right there with ya!

I can't stand the whining! My 2yr old has just started doing it...it drives me nuts! Today was really awful, but I put her down for her nap at 12:30 and she usually sleeps until 2:30..but here it is 3:00 and she's still sleeping, so maybe she was just very tired today, hopefully this long nap will put her in better spirits!

Thanks for the tip...she does point to my belly and said "Baby", she also rubs my tummy sometimes, and I bought her a picture book of newborns...today she wanted nothing to do with the baby stuff, I did try to let her look at the baby clothes and bibs, etc., but all she did was be fresh and run away! I think she was tired too, she got up earlier than usual this am, and when I put her down for her nap, she usually sleeps for 2hrs but is still asleep, almost 1/2hr later! Maybe a nice long nap is what she needed! She has always been crabby when she doesn't get enough sleep...but I still think that today alot of her attitude had to do with her age and that she just couldn't settle into something this am. Thanks for the link, I'm going to take a look at it. ARRRGGGHHHHH!
