Optic Nerve-Does Eye Patching Work ?

My 20 month old daughter was just diagnosed as having Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. She is very smart, has no growth problems, and her right eye slightly drifts. We were told to use patches to help her eye restore any vision. When we put the patch on her, we immediately knew she had no vision what so ever in this eye as she was unable to see a red piece of paper in front of her eye. Does eye patching help when your child has no vision at all? If so, how long should the child use the patch, and for what period of time (in years)? Any insight, comments are greatly appreciated as this is a difficult time for our family. Thanks a bunch to all...

ok first write out your questions and take them to your doctor. OR better yet find a better one. Your doc should not have let you leave the office with so many questions unanswered.

The patch has worked. I use to work for an Eye dr. I strongley suggest that you call for a second op w/ a Med Dr who is a ped's eye surgon or specialest.
