So, Friday afternoon we left to go camping. The weather for the weekend was predicted to be HOT and HUMID (like mid 90's hot with humidity so thick....). Anyway, when we got there, SIL was not feeling well. It ended up that she threw up most of the weekend and they ended up leaving on Sat. after dinner. They found out, after they got home that she had heat exhustion. Poor thing - she stuck it out as long as she could so her kids could enjoy themselves. I felt so bad for her. The only time she felt good was on Saturday when we literally put our chairs IN THE LAKE and watched the kids swim. Probably because it kept her body cool. THe instant we go out and she got back to the campsite, she started up again. Poor thing. She may need to go in today to get an IV to replenish her fluids - she was in pretty bad shape. Well, also, to add to the misery of Friday night: We lit a campfire for dinner, then let the kids run around, etc. When it started getting dark we pulled out the stuff for S'mores, and then shortly after that put the kids to bed. It was probably about 10pm. Katie and Molly had their own tent, which they thought was really cool. Anyhow, dh and I finally made it to bed around 11:30. Pretty soon we heard someone coughing, and then we heard a little tiny voice: "Mom, I threw up". DH of course, let out a nice swear word, and we jumped out of the tent. I unzipped theirs, only to find a huge pool of vomit in the middle of the tent, Katie just lying there looking guilty and Molly sound asleep. Sigh - just what every parent dreams of on their camping trip. So, dh I scooped the sleeping child out and put her in our tent, dragged out all the vomit filled blankets and sleeping bags, and I took Katie to the restroom to clean up. When we got back, dh had our tent set up for all 4 of us to sleep in. It was hot all night long and I hardly slept. The next morning we had to take all the gear to a laundromat to clean it all up. It was loads of fun!! LOL! Fortunately, it was the only time she threw up - must have been a combo of all the treats, excitement and heat. DH also had a good point - if we were sharing a tent, she would have puked in ours - then what would we have done, if it were our only tent!! Sheesh!!
Anyhow, we got home yesterday around noon and vegged the rest of the day. The kids were exhausted, so they were in bed by 7:30. Then around 2 a.m., Molly woke me up because her tummy hurt. I was up 2x with her, trying to tell her if she went to the bathroom, it would feel better. Sigh, kids. I finally got back to sleep around 3, and dh got up for work around 4:30. Then I went back to sleep and Katie woke me up at 7, looking for her allergy meds, because she was miserable. Molly is still sleeping.
That was our weekend. Anyone care to go camping with us? LOL!

Aw, Wendy, sounds like a tough trip. We had some serious heat issues, too. Had to take several breaks at CP to cool off, and the air was broke in the trailer, making it too hot to stay in during the day. Nikki wilts in the heat, so we have to keep pushing water at her. Hope your next camping trip goes better!

Oh, Wendy!! LOL! I'm sorry to laugh, but it sounds like a comedy movie or something. What a drag! I would have been seriously bummed, but you're right: KIDS. What are you going to do? I'm sorry you had to deal with that!
I hope you had *some* fun, anyway!
Sofia
Sorry your trip didn't go very well !
