Has anyones husband had the old snip snip done?
Chris goes tomorrow to have it done and I was not sure what he needs to expect, not only for the surgery but also afterwards.
I am going to look after him for the few days he might need me.
Anything I should do or have on hand to make this easier for him?
Someone said get frozen bags for him, anything else?
Also, how long could he be in pain? Don't want him to milk this for all its worth

Generally, this is an office procedure, with little risk of complicatons. There is some discomfort, but nothing compared to what a woman experiences in delivery or tubal ligation.

However, if your man is like mine, he will need to be humoured, and will milk it for all its worth. Guys tend to be a little OC when it comes to that area of their body.( Can you imagine your DH being poked and prodded at an OBGYN, or by every nurse and intern at the hospital while giving birth). Neither can I.

Oh well, I guess you can give him points for willing to do this. Some guys absolutely refuse.

Michael had it done 2 years ago. It really was not that bad. It was an outpatient procedure, but I had to drive him, because he couldn't drive home, he was too drugged. He was sore for a few days, and I remember he came home and went to bed for a few hours afterwards, but I think that was more because of the pain killers they gave him (tylenol with codeine). He didn't do the frozen peas, but he sat with an icepack between his legs for a few days to reduce the swelling. I remember there was some bruising of the testicles, but it wasn't anything like what we go through with C-sections or ripping or episiotomies!! LOL! Men are big babies, though. But I don't think he was really in that much pain. He took a few days off work, and walked kind of funny, and took the pain meds. Make sure Chris takes the pain meds, and he should be OK.

And the freedom-from-worry and spontaneity it gives you is AMAZING!! ;)

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes.

I am going to get my DH to do it as well since he talked me out of tubal. No more kiddies for us! LoL. His BF had it done, and said it was cake. Mild discomfort and blah blah. I never heard of the frozen peas...I might try that. Anyway, we all baby our hubbies when they are sick. LOL Just because we love them.
