Poor Molly......

Yesterday on the bus, Molly was threatened by some first graders. Remember, she is only 7, and is not one to really stand up for herself (only with her sister, lol). Katie said she noticed that Molly was crying on the bus. She went over to check on her and found out that 2 first graders told her they were going to shoot and kill her! OMG! To make a long story short, Katie told the teacher as soon as she got off the bus. This is apparently a 3rd offense for one of them. The superintendent of schools was being called to reprimand this boy. The other one was getting a note home to parents, since it was his first offense. Molly was quite upset and I was VERY proud of Katie for being so protective of her sister and know the right things to do. She sat with her the rest of the way on the bus, and made sure the proper people found out. There are always those little glimmers of hope in there that you ARE doing the right thing! LOL! The 1st grade teacher was very apologetic to me (she talked to me when I went in for recess duty). She explained that these boys were imitating what they saw on Pokemon? We don't watch Pokemon here, so I have no idea what they are talking about. But, she said that Molly should NOT be frightened to ride the bus, and that she is taking the matter very seriously. Phew! She was Molly's teacher last year, so she knows how sensitive Molly is, too.
Anyway, that was added into my day yesterday. Like I needed that!

That is awful! Kids need to know that those words are not acceptable and need some sever punishment for saying it. That is something the parent should be involved in too!
I hate school buses and reading this makes me hate it more. lol. I drive my dd to school every day. Two times in the past two weeks I have two separate bus drivers should visible angry (lol) towards me for no apparent fault of mine. The bus drivers around us are on tight schedules to work between schools and subdivisions that I think it stresses them out not to meantion some of the "problem" kids they transport.
I hope Molly is ok and I am very sorry that she had to hear that!
It happened in Beslan, in the former soviet union where a school was held hostage, an elementary school hundreds of elementary school children were executed.
Honestly my childhood elementary school memories are so nice, and non violent, what is going on now adays?
I'm sorry to hear she was frightened like that.

(((((((((Molly))))))))))))
Wendy I would have been livid! HUGE kudos to Katie for looking out for her!!!!
With all the things you hear about happening on buses, I'm shocked that they don't have monitors riding the buses with the kids. There is no excuse for inappropriate behaviour like that... whether they are imitating a cartoon or not. At least the teachers and the others in charge are handling the situation.
Give her a huge hug from me!!!
Hi Wendy
I am so sorry that your daughter was so upset.
In my opinion a harsher penalty should be made - I don't care if they are only in the first grade.

(((Wendy))) how hard!! And those kids are only in FIRST GRADE?? You must be very proud of Katie, but poor Molly! I'm so sorry that happened to her. How scary! It sounds like you handled it perfectly. I hope you get the whole thing resolved.
I can kind of sympathize. Last year when Matthew was in 2nd grade, some big 4th and 5th graders started calling him "gay." I was so mad! It just bothers you so much when your kids get picked on! I was going to do something about it, but it seemed to blow over. We told Matthew just to ignore them. He wanted to know what "gay" was, and we wanted to teach him in the politically correct way. We didn't want him to think "gay" was a bad thing, because we don't want him growing up homophobic. At the same time, I feel like he's really too young to understand!

I am glad they are taking care of the problem and not just shrugging it off.
