Potty Training on the GO?

ok ladies ... need help. I'm potty training my last child (boy) - hurray!!!

The bad news is my life has changed since I potty trained the other two - we were mostly at home, no hectic schedules of school, activities, sports etc so it was pretty straightforward to just have them regularly sit on the potty. I'm finding it really difficult to use the same approach because we are now always on the go - school dropoffs, pickups, sports, activities, etc. So bottomline, my technique is not working ...

I'm sure there are many of you who have potty trained on the GO - any tips?

hi in the same position here with my 2 year old. I'm sure you know this but I always take him before we leave the house..when we arrive somewhere, and only use the slow draining sippy cups while out of the house. At one step ahead catalog there is a great little inflatible potty that you put in your car for emergencies, I have a mini van so when ever he needs to go I just put it on the backseat and never have to get out! There is a drawback though and that is that he wants to pull the car potty out sometimes and doesn't want to use the one in the grocery store..but hey what are ya gonna do? lol

Good luck..hope this helped even a little.

Hi, I hope you don't mind me chiming in here....I just started checking out this board--I am usually on the Jan 04 playgroup. One Step Ahead also sells a portable potty seat. It folds up to fit in a diaper bag and attaches to a big toilet to make it a better "fit" for a little guy. It was a lifesaver for my oldest who was so afraid to go anywhere but at home because he thought he would fall in! I didn't explain it very well, but if you go to their website you should be able to find it. HTH,

I can relate to pottying on the go, we are a busy family of 8 people, with the two year old potty training. Although the 2 yo is a girl, not a boy as your child is, when they have to go it seems they have to go NOW, not in a few minutes! There is no waiting when a little one says they need to use the potty. To solve this problem in case of emergencies, I've simply put an unused potty (she uses a toilet ring/seat at home), wrapped it in a garbage bag for "in case" and put it in the back of my mini van. An extra pair of undies is helpful too, lol! Good luck to all you mommies training right now! Oh what fun!
