This has been a really rough week for our friends. We met in birth class when we were pregnant. Their daughter is about a month older than our Taylor. One year ago this week, they found out she was experiencing liver failure (at 5 months old) and rushed her to a local children's hospital, then on to Houston Children's Hospital. They found out she had a birth defect in the ducts between the liver and pancreas and needed a new liver. She got her liver last summer, thank goodness! But this week she has been sick with what they originally thought was a stomach bug. Any illness, even the sniffles, warrants a trip to the hospital because of her anti-rejection meds. Anyway, after spending all week in our local hospital, she still has uncontrollable diarrhea and they cant get her hydrated so they are transferring her back to Houston. My heart is breaking for them. They were just starting to feel normal again. It just doesn't seek possible that the happy, healthy little girl we saw on Saturday is so sick again. Please pray that her drs in Houston can get her well again quickly and that this has nothing to do with her new liver.
